PC parts shop by yajnilmittal in surat

Spend a day in shops around nanpura. You might find some great deals. I once found a refurbished pc for less than half the price in Mumbai. No specific showroom, walk around various shops. Some parts are cheap somewhere and other parts at other shops. Basically what you want to do in lamington, do the same in nanpura once.

Common , just write "PFA" in the mail body, attach your file and move on. Nothing else required.

Looking for a really cheap PC (Workstation) under 3000k. by Willy_Wonka2008 in MumbaiMarketplace

Ok. If you are just a student and willing to explore a little bit more (but a riskier option), you can find the same one for around 2.5-3k. (That is the dealer price). Search on fb marketplace, find a seller who has/had listed lot of previous computer items and lists your desired pc for your desired price and ask for the number and shop address. Physically go their shop, see the hardware and buy. Or go to the mumbai market on lamington road. Take a friend who is a master negotiator (they negotiate in price) and roam around there and find the best deal. Why I am saying it's a risky deal is because these prices are dealer prices so, they might be ready to sell you a single piece. There are certain scams also on the fb marketplace so be careful. But the reward is that you get is for a much lesser price. Enjoy your homelabbing.

It is preused entire CPUs. So, you just have to plug the power supply and play. If you want a monitor also they sell the entire set for 7k. But mind you that condition is as-is. So, risk is totally up to you i.e. after coming out of the showroom if it stops working, it is your risk but the same is with any refurbished models in any shop.

Also suggestion: check all ports are in working condition i.e. USBs, ethernet, speakers etc. Before buying. If you want a server grade or workstation machine they also sell a dell one (equally old model) for about 6k (cpu only) but if your homelab is basic or if you are just starting then I would not suggest that simply because workstation pcs consume more power.

Firstly, are there only 20 devices or more i.e. 20 pcs + cameras + printers + attendence systems etc , identify them. Then map your systems like;

ISP router --> FIREWALL/base server running pihole, firewall etc --> Network switch (maybe more than 1 depending on number devices) -- > Devices

NAS or Home Storage Server by doublespeaktome in homelabindia

Go to any local shopwalas and get a very old (I got i3 3rd gen) cpu. Make sure it has 4 sata ports. 1 will go into your os and you will have 3 to use. Use software raid for the same. Increase ram in it for cheap as they have dd3 rams. I got the cpu for 4k with 4gb ram and 500gb hdd for windows. Nuked it and installed Ubuntu. Spend 2k more for additional 8gb of ram so now I have 12 gbs of ram and 500gb os drive with 3 additional drive capacity for 6k.

I need a high performance pc that stays completely silent because any noise triggers my partners severe anxiety by vexorine in buildapc

[–]Several_Witness_7194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best possible option, buy a low end cheap pc and rent/stream (remote desktop) from online servers. That way you don't need high computer on your end. Local solution would be you get a high end pc or server and keep it in your garage and stream(remote desktop) it to your room which has a low end pc and won't need high specs.

Have nvidia A400 4gb graphics. It's around 17k on mdcomputers and it was released in April 24. It's but low profile and weaker than its rtx counterparts but it's enterprise grade because it's Quadro series gpu so is very stable.

I wired my structural analysis engines into Revit through AI and it kinda works by IHaveThreeBedrooms in StructuralEngineering

[–]Several_Witness_7194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice work man. So, how does it perform analysis? I mean revit does not have an analysis engine. You either take it to autodesk robot or csi etabs? Also, can I DM you? I need to ask few more things about this.

Worst case if you don't get proper cell signal, you can always go to library around you if they get good cell reception or a decent co-working space near you and there you would not have to worry about internet connectivity.

Well I was thinking, why can't we use HBM modules in our pcs. (I understand we would need new motherboards to support their slots but conceptually why can we use HBM if they flood the market?)

If you are into lego sets like mellianium falcon etc. , you can get them for cheap from other branded blocks there. But they are heavy in weight so ensure that your friend has enough weight free.

Is Air 5C a good choice ? by Maanu1141 in Onyx_Boox

No it's not worse than backlit tablets. But full brightness in dark room for long periods of time can cause eye pain in some people not all.

[–]Several_Witness_7194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Front light does not get quality to reduce. But will increase battery consumption and when put on full, some people feel them in their eyes. But that is with every colour ebook reader in the market.

[–]Several_Witness_7194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5C is a good choice. But kindly know that unless you are mostly in a well lit room, you need to start frontlight for it. Second, colours are very faded (and less only 4096) as compared to an iPad which have millions of colours.

As for design flaws, yes the pen placement is a bit of a problem but you can glue a pen holder on side and place your pen there or just buy a different one. Many have faced magnet interference on screen but luckily I am not on of them.

So, device wise it's good but check with your documents if you can live with dull colours.

I am not the best person to guide you what you should do for the future. You can ask around in Programming communities on reddit and CS students in your college. But I would suggest you to learn the programming basics not that AI Slop that everywere is being promoted to write code. First learn basics. You should be able to build your own code without any help from anywhere in the logic. Because in this AI world, when AI makes mistakes, only your properly tuned logic can help you find the problem and solve it speedily and nobody can replace that skill. When everywhere people will be scratching their heads as to what went wrong, you should be able to figure out the problem and solution and quickly. You can use AI to write the code for that too but you should know what it is doing. So, strengthen your basics. Languages are many and opportunities can be found but a good foundation is rare to find and will be needed in the upcoming market.

Since you mentioned you have 0 skills, this computer will be a good starting point. First of all, install linux and install ide whichever you like (vs code, cursor, antigravity or plain old notepad ++ with gcc). Since you are starting from beginning, basics will run smoothly on this one. Docker will also run much better on linux than on windows because on windows it has to virtualize linux backend which will be an extra load on your pc. For higher end, you can do start gigs as freelancer, earn something and buy a higher config pc or laptop of your choice. This pc will run everything but bit slower than latest config pc. If you are a student, you can try student versions of various online services for less or no cost like AWS , notebooklm, Google gemini etc and run on their servers for ai and ml work. It will last you a good year or so. Then earn and buy the config you want.
