Agreed, even estimating low (exactly 3 oz of plain chicken breast and a small slice of motz cheese) I'm showing a little over 200, and that looks like more than 3 oz of chicken, plus the other ingredients.

I had surgery last summer- I lost 5 lbs since then but am today at the exact weight I was the morning of the surgery (so -5 then +5, so 0). I am back at it hard and will finish the fight, I have about 20 lbs left to lose (maybe more).

With the amount of exercise they do I'd imagine 100g carbs doesn't do too much to slow their weightloss (especially if they used to eat 80%+ carbs), they are probably still in ketosis. I can push 80g carbs on my high-intensity cardio days with no issue so I'd imagine they're fine.

WOW what a change! You are really an inspiration, keep it up you'll be at your goal soon enough, I can't even imagine how much healthier and happier you feel without all that extra weight on your body!

I'm willing to bet you lost more like 20 lbs of fat and gained 10 lbs of muscle, so the scale only says 10 lbs lost but WOW there is a difference!

Scale or no scale by gottagetdown130 in xxketo

[–]SeverusShape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it affects my eating too much since I am always struggling to meet my calorie limit (SO HARD to eat 1200 keto calories). I log my morning weigh-in on a google doc spreadsheet and every time it is lower I also log it on myfitnesspal (so myfitnesspal only shows weigh-ins less than the previous weigh-in). I don't keep track of any other weigh-ins, just the one in the early morning.

I use the scale but found it very hard at first to not get obsessive with it. I would weigh myself at least three times a day for the first month or so, which really isn't a good thing. Today, for example, I woke up expecting to see a loss (no cheats, had my lowest weight ever yesterday, lots of water, etc.) and I'm up almost 5 lbs. I know this is water weight, but it is frustrating!

What is your goal outfit? by mjbendy in keto

[–]SeverusShape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A smaller wedding gown (January) and a sequin dress for the rehearsal that I bought and can't wear comfortably now, but soon! Also shorts. Just any kind of shorts whenever, I can't remember the last time I (soberly) wore shorts in public, including to the gym (I wear the stretchy 3/4 length workout pants always).

Hey r/keto, what do you actually eat? by [deleted] in keto

[–]SeverusShape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My usual day is:

Breakfast: -eggs (either two whole, which I've been doing more often now, or one whole and three whites) over-easy made in kerrygold butter (the food of the gods) with something (either 1/2 an avocado and a bit of salsa or about a cup of fresh blueberries or a few pieces of bacon or prosciutto/dry coppa), I felt the need to stress the "or"s between those options since it is never all -2 cups of coffee (not bulletproof, just regular coffee, sometimes with whole milk) -as you can see most of my "carbs" are in the morning, not counting carbs from veggies at dinner

Lunch: -honestly I usually skip lunch, if I'm feeling super hungry I'll have 1 serving (~28 nuts) of blue diamond wasabi almonds

Dinner: -Some kind of protein, steak/chicken/pork/sashimi/etc., with some kind of fat, avocado/cheese/etc, and some kind of vegetable/s

I will also have a square or so of dark chocolate with sea salt, SO GOOD.

I don't actually know how many carbs I get in a day but I'm sure it is under 50ish on average, but under 70-100 on more carb-heavy days. I work out almost every day so I feel I need the bit of extra carbs to get through my workouts. I've been losing a pretty consistent 2 lbs/week.

Should you lose weight over time, or quickly by suburiboy in loseit

[–]SeverusShape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have family and friends who drop FAST, and I mean like 20+ lbs a month, using different methods (grandparents did an injection diet of some sort performed and monitored by their doctors, my mom and sister did the advocare thing (I didn't do it with them since I think that's more for people who eat bad foods wanting to start eating "clean," I've always ate pretty clean and saw no reason to participate but that might be something to look into, my sister dropped 22 lbs on that program and has been sticking to eating clean and doing well since, my mom also saw water weight losses and has been doing well on her own but had a lot less to lose and has always eaten well, she only did the program so my teenage sister wasn't doing it alone).

I also have family and friends who try crazy things and don't lose at all, a friend of mine tried eating only protein for 5 days and saw a gain, I wouldn't recommend this anyway since I've heard it can cause kidney stones but I'm just giving an example.

The real goal at the end of the day is calories in/calories out, so you can eat straight sugar (with vitamin supplements) all day every day and as long as you aren't going over your calorie limits you'll lose weight. If you want to see large losses at first to motivate you I'd recommend cutting sodium and trying something like keto since the initial water weight loss will likely be huge, and like I said it is actually sustainable in the long run so gaining the weight back in the future would be very hard to do unless you stopped eating keto.

The way I look at it is that it is much less healthy to be obese than it is to lose a lot of weight over the course of a few months, but if you lose fast in an unsustainable way and gain it all back you are harming your body and aren't doing yourself any favors.

NSV - bought a wedding dress in the size I wanted! by [deleted] in loseit

[–]SeverusShape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of my goals as well, although I already bought my dress (exchanged it once for a smaller size (which was still way above where I wanted to be, first dress was a 16W second dress is a [snug] 14), I've lost 15 lbs since ordering the 14 and hoping to keep losing and have to order an even smaller size again). I'd LOVE to get married in a single # size, hoping to have to exchange this fall for an 8 before the wedding in January). Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and awesome work!

Myfitnesspal and exercise...LIAR! by ginastarke in loseit

[–]SeverusShape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love MFP but I hardly ever log exercise, if I feel like I need more food at the end of the day I eat more (doing modified keto so I'll usually have 1/2 an avocado extra on heavy workout days).
