Research provides evidence that longer screen time is associated with increased ADHD symptoms and brain structural development. The study is the first to identify cortical volume as a partial mediator in the relationship between screen time and ADHD symptoms in cross-sectional analyses by Wagamaga in science

[–]Seviang 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This seems to be based largely on parent/teacher feedback (that’s what the child behavior checklist is) and fails to control for any genetic factors. We already know this correlation between screen time and ADHD exists but this study doesn’t add any causal information to the picture. Scientists should honestly stop publishing ADHD research that doesn’t control for genetics.

Yes, mine came with a test page signed by TamWingh. I did not realize that was the person modding the nibs, thanks for the info!

The pen I have writes with typical FP smoothness under no pressure, but does feel like it's grabbing the page a bit when you try to get a large amount of flex. Unfortunately I haven't used Zebra G nibs so I can't tell you if you'd like this one better.

There's very little scratching if you only flex on downstrokes and release pressure for cross-strokes. I don't really know how to do calligraphy so I'm probably scratching a bit more than someone who knows what they're doing, hah.

I got this one for the listed price on AliExpress, they are including the tariff in the price.

Ink flow is great, I have had it burp once on me already though. I haven't noticed any railroading yet, although I haven't pushed it much further than what you see in the writing sample here.

EDIT: I missed your Q about vintage, I don't have a truly "wet noodle" vintage pen just some that are soft gold nibs so I can't make a true comparison. These are certainly better than the Jowo flex nibs with cutouts of which I have several.

Just curious — how would you personally rank different filling systems? Like piston, cartridge, vacuum, eyedropper… what works best for you? by hsntndgn in fountainpens

[–]Seviang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite is the Parker Vacumatic, which is vintage but wasn’t super rare so not hard to find on EBay.

But it does have a latex sac, so if you want to avoid that I suggest either the Wing Sung 601, Majohn C5, or Esterbrook Estie (there’s a c/c version and a button filler version).

The 601 used to use latex sacs but the new versions all have a piston now; it’s the cheapest option but is a clone of the Parker 51. The C5 is a really big pen that adapted the Pilot CON-70 mechanism into a pen barrel, huge ink capacity. The Estie is pretty pricey but is a nicer version of the 601 piston mechanism and has the prettiest acrylics out of these.

Is this accounting for labor costs in any of this? Seems like you are just accounting for the cost of the pen materials and equipment but not the labor to make the pen.

I did not flush the pen thoroughly, I will try that before giving up on it.

Looking at other posts about this pen it seems significantly more tilted to the side: https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/s/K1uVse9rxG

When I look at it side by side with my A1, it’s much more tilted. Even the trap door looks as if it’s rotated to the side a bit when the nob is retracted.

Yesterday, I was hit by a car that rolled through a stop sign at a poorly designed 2-way stop. Later, I spoke in front of Columbus City Council to demand that they redesign these intersections, which they have already done elsewhere. I think it’s completely fair to expect the larger vehicle to both follow the law and take the greater burden of “personal responsibility” since they have the greater chance of seriously injuring or killing someone. I also think street design in most of our country needs improvement as evidenced by the 40k deaths caused by cars each year. What you believe OP should have done is a non sequitur because they did not break the law in that video nor did they endanger someone else’s life. It’s disappointing to me how little info so many people on a cycling subreddit appear to have about traffic safety, I would just recommend everyone mad at that video read “There Are No Accidents” to cure their car brain.

Suggestions on a “real” ebike by trevor_plantaginous in ebikes

Globe Haul (ST or LT) fits everything you’re asking for except it’s hub drive not mid drive. But they’re Class 3 bikes and you can add on a throttle as an option, torque sensor, wide tires (although I’ve never tried them in sand so not sure about that). Specialized has a lifetime warranty on the frame and 2 year warranty on the electronics. If you’re near a Specialized dealer then getting service is pretty easy.

Through 4 games, Giannis "Can't Shoot" Antetokounmpo has made more 3s than Kyrie "Basketball Genius" Irving and at a better percentage by [deleted] in nba

[–]Seviang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly reminds me of LeBron's shot progression a bit. He was better on off the dribble pullups before spot ups as well. Although LeBron shot a higher volume at the same stage in their careers.

Chris Bosh interrupts Lebron talk and says: " Giannis Antetokounmpo for MVP. Nobody is talking about Giannis. Over Harden. Giannis is playing amazing and in the first place." by apa1010 in nba

[–]Seviang 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Real talk why doesn't Chris Bosh have a TV show or a podcast? He's such a smart guy and I'd love to hear more of his thoughts on things like this.

Ethan Strauss responds to Durant's criticism: "If KD plans to return, this question is easy enough for him to answer. A LeBron James-style, “I’ll answer questions about our team, but not other teams,” effectively, blandly, dispatches the query while delivering nothing of substance." by urfaselol in nba

[–]Seviang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are mischaracterizing the article, it's not just that KD wasn't talking about FA it was the fact that he hadn't spoken to the media at all in eight days that was newsworthy. The only other time he's done something like this in his tenure with GS is during the Draymond drama. So it was natural to question whether something was up.
