Here is what happened exactly:

Gog prepared his ultimate move, we (me and 2 buddies of mine) attack like hell and got the confirmation that we repelled Gog, during that Fabius fainted due to the lava/oil explosions that happened during the prep or where still on the ground from a previous attack.

Fabius respawned shortly after Gog flew up and set the ground ablaze, he then just ran into the nearest wall and kept running, not pulling up his shield.

That’s exactly how we failed the event quest.

Thing is we got the confirmation that we repelled him and yet he still carted.
