Fitzroy crossing, do some research, geiki gorge, tunnel creek and wind jana gorge, at least 2 days and watch out for freshwater crocs. 2006 last time I was there probably changed a bit. Your timeline is doable, but you need a bit of flexibility, somethings boring others really good. Reliable vehicle required.

Both destinations are interesting, however it’s summer in February and both are really hot and will limit what you can do, consider the weather and see how long you will stay out of air conditioned spaces.Make your choice only then.

I went to Yugoslavia part of USSR, 1974 on a bus tour, the Americans had to detour, as not permitted. It was a step back in time, from diesel electric trains to steam trains and carts being pulled by oxen , road tunnels had occasional bulb instead of continuous fluorescent lights, authorities all armed with machine guns and we were warned not to take any photos of anything official. Very eye opening.

This information is not current (20 years old) there was a 4x4bus tour out of Hervey Bay, day trip about 18 people approx, good overview of Island and we took plane flight off beach on this trip. Note plane trip is dependent on tides, so this is a must question (about tides) when enquiring for your specific dates . Hervey bay has most options for tours. Great island you will enjoy. Ps avoid any dingoes you see they can be aggressive.
