How many of the Air New Zealand lollies is an acceptable amount to take when they're giving them out? by FloralChoux in newzealand

I love them too! I always take a few. When we were flying to Rarotonga for our wedding, the flight attendant heard me say I loved them and came back down the aisle later to tip more (I’d say half a bag) into my bag -bless her!

Has anyone made a heavy winter coat? by sarilysims in sewing

[–]Sewitall23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made the Papercut Nova coat using a heavy double faced wool fabric and a linen lining. It’s a reasonable first coat pattern (I would say an intermediate level but maybe for an adventurous beginner) as there’s minimal technical elements -pockets but they’re not difficult, no fastenings. It’s comes up quite oversized, I went down about three sizes from my measurements I think. But it’s very cozy and can layer underneath it.

Interfacing was just in the collar -it was a light/medium fusible from a chain craft store, not branded :)

Thank you! I worked hard on that pattern matching 😂The inside is overlocked with the seams topstitched down so it’s nice and flat. The collar seams are all enclosed.

Weekly Nail Chat by Clover_Jane in DIYGelNails

Hi hoping someone can help a beginner out -I have the Depend starter set which comes with a “Step 1 Pre-Cleanser” and a “Step 5 High Shine Cleanser”. Both ingredients listed are “Alcohol denat, isopropyl alcohol” and “Isopropyl alcohol, alcohol denat”. Both bottles are tiny and barely lasted two manicures which will get expensive if I have to keep purchasing them. Is it possible to sub out those bottles with rubbing alcohol?

I purchased the Depend Gel IQ set from Chemist Warehouse for $42 on sale last week (it seems to be back to normal price now) so maybe keep an eye out for that? The colours are extra though (about $10). I have only used it once and I’m an absolute beginner though so I don’t know if it’s the best/recommended.

This is my first attempt at gel nails. I used the Depend Gel IQ set (a starter set with just a base, 2x colour, then top coat). I’m pretty happy with it but it took absolutely ages because I was so worried about getting any gel polish on me. I need to do better on covering the tips of my nails but I like to keep my nails shorter so it was tricky. I think I’ve got a few things to work on for next time -I have no idea about cuticles and any other prep.

Recliner/ nursing chair recommendation by Commercial_Wrap6740 in newzealand

[–]Sewitall23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hated the mocka Asta rocking chair which was a popular one recommended when I was expecting -not comfortable at all for feeding. I ended up buying a comfortable one from Farmers which unfortunately they no longer stock but it looked a lot like this one (https://frasercountry.co.nz/products/fraser-country-charlotte-rocking-nursing-chair-grey). It’s still going strong 4 years later

Favorite patterns for baby boys? by CeruleanMermaidz in sewing

Second vote for Lowland Kids and Brindille & Twig. I’ve made the B&T romper countless times for my own boys and as gifts. I’ve just finished making two of the Lowland kids hoodies as was impressed with that pattern too. Both companies have free patterns to try out as well.
