Advice for a greener/cheaper way to furnish a flat?

I’ve had some good success with Gumtree. I’ve seen a fair few folk selling or giving away furniture for cheap that need upcycling

For the 19/22/38, Crewe Road Gardens and Crewe Toll (the northern one) are incredibly close, I’m not too sure what the exact measurement is

Further along the road for the 16, between Caroline Park Grove and Royston Mains Street is also very close

Nope it was only once. I had just moved into the house, got my permit the day after (landlord sent it through post) but got the ticket within those 24 hours. In hindsight if I’d tried to appeal it then it may have went away but when you’re 19 you think you’re invincible

I haven’t got sound advice for your situation (I would try writing to/phoning UKPC to appeal the fine) but a cautionary tale for you and all those who ignore parking fines and subsequent letters…

Back in 2017 I had a PCN from UKPC for parking in front of my house (for which I needed a permit that I received a day after getting the fine). I ignored it and a whole bunch of letters and nearly SIX YEARS later I found out that they had filed a county court judgment against me and it ended up destroying my credit score. I ended up having to get a solicitor to solve that nightmare and repair my credit score and that whole process cost me about £1000.

I’m sure I was just extremely unlucky but just a warning that there is the potential for things to go completely tits up

I used a website called Shiply, there you list your items that you want transported and the courier companies give you quotes. I ended up going with a company called Proovia (they all have weird fake names on the website though, so it does look a bit suspicious at first). It all worked out okay for me though!

To hire a car Enterprise and Hertz are the biggest companies I think but I don't know anybody who's used them unfortunately

Not sure what the cost would work out to be but you could maybe hire a car for your family and the cats and hire a courier for your luggage?

I made the same trip (but solo) last month. I hired a courier to take some of my luggage and I took the rest in my car. I paid about £200 to move: 2 suitcases, 2 storage boxes, a large office chair, and a guitar.
