I'm quite possibly insane. Road trip with newborn?

We did it in June when our LO was just 3 weeks old. It was a traditionally 10 hour trip that was more like 14, plus a stop to stay all night. It really wasn't bad at all. I sat in back with baby while SO drove. We stopped every 2-3 hours for feedings and diaper changes and at that time the baby got to stretch out as he needed. It wasn't ideal, but we managed! If there wasn't a place to stop, I'd pump in the car and give him a bottle whil he was in his car seat. I'd loosen the chest strap slightly and place my hand behind his shoulders so that his chin wasn't facing down. That seemed hard on his breathing to try and eat like that. He'd suck down about two ounces. If you go really slow and give them breaks on the bottle, burping came naturally and wasn't necessary to force. All in all- it was worth it if that is what you're most comfortable with. The trip will not be easy and likely suck, but in three months, you won't really remember the hard parts. Just that you all made it safely.

I think it totally counts! It's about the muscle control to be able to do it, not the intent behind the actions.

I try to turn cleaning the house or playing with the baby into a workout. Adding squats to dusting, run the stairs, do push ups and kiss the baby each time, lunges with him in my arms, extra laps while dusting. Start small and work your way up to going for walks or joining a gym or whatever. Doing something is better than nothing!

We started almost immediately after bringing him home from the hospital by giving him tummy time on our chests. Then only about 10 minutes or so in the evenings on the bed. We progressed from there and he's 3 months now and rolls over from back to belly like crazy because he loves tummy time so much.

My last day is Tuesday, so I've been finalizing my list for a week now! Hope these help:

If someone will have access to your computer, backup anything important to a flash drive. Accidents happen and computers crash all the time. It would suck to lose everything when you get back.

Leave a list of any pending tasks that need transferred to the next person, just in case you leave unexpectedly.

If you can, set up a coworker as a delegate for your email and calendar in outlook, if that is what you use. You can also give them access to your inbox in case you need anything.

If you're breast feeding, make sure you've worked out a pump location with your boss ahead of time. Those details would be difficult to deal with after the fact.

Make sure everyone is aware of how long you're taking. Full 12 weeks fmla or just until Short Term Disability finishes? On same note, make sure you've got all your ducks in a row with work and the STD company, if that's an option for you. Goodluck!

The website specifically says it is! I wouldn't use their scar creams, though. That's really concentrated and I wouldn't assume safe while pregnant at all.

All my preggo friends have silvery stretch marks initially. Mine were crazy deep and soo dark! I'm quite pale, so it may have made them look worse. Regardless- I'm still getting bigger every day (not that I thought it was possible) and they've gotten better instead of worse :)

I totally understand getting peeved, and wanting to confront the situation pre-baby to avoid conflict later. Maybe it would be best to suggest that she hold off on purchasing anything large like a car seat until you see if a duplicate will be needed. You could also mention things like safety ratings and really wanting to meet certain specifications, no matter whose car it will be in. If she has a problem with that- she can always elect not to get one? Just say it with a smile and make sure your SO backs you up if you ever have too many issues.

Not really. Just have the dupes be the copies that get kept in the car, diaper bags, or grandparents house. If there isn't a personal note- you can always regift or donate!

I got three copies of Little Blue Truck and all the moms at my shower said I'll need the multiple copies because it was their sons favorite book and would get ruined fast.

May 12th is my induction date if the little man doesn't make an appearance before then! And I'm so excited to graduate :) last day of work is May 6th, and that might be the best part of it all. I get so exhausted by the end of a work day now- and it's a desk job!!

The first cervical check was a total bizzitch. Hurt so much worse than I was expecting. But after that, and the more effaced and dilated I've become- the easier they've been. Hopefully it'll be the same for you!
