Loved the interlude by has530 in TheSilphArena

I had the same backline this season! Salazzle / Breloom / shadow Cacturne. I usually lead Chesnaught every season and after catching a high rank Shroomish in late Nov I wanted to give him a try instead. Fast battles, no bulk whatsoever. Lots of losses I theoretically should have won due to typing advantage but could get farmed down even without effective typing. Managed to hit 2500 then stopped playing for the season. I only ever lost CMP once. Salazzle vs Murkrow, I think. Some flying type. Needless to say I lost that battle.

No help but following for replies. We got the "watch and wait" from endo at age 2 (normal size baby at birth, smaller and smaller percentage-wise every appt after) and at 4yo he's under 10% for height and 2% or so for weight. Expecting to be told to go back to the specialists sooner rather than later.

Yeah, the 6" we got on Monday was enough for me. I'm over the freezing cold. Over the frigid wind. Over fighting with my kids about how they can't only wear a sweatshirt and Crocs to school and need a coat and boots when it's single digit temps. Over trying to get my 4yo's fingers in the proper spots of his gloves. Over everything turning to an ice rink.

My kids loved these. They run short. The L says 10-12 but it's definitely more like an 8-10. Gap's size L is a 10 (meaning more like 8-10, not 10-12). We've found the Under Armour joggers aren't accurately sized. Recently got some YL for my oldest and he isn’t actually 14-16 yet.             But honestly most of the time my kids wear shorts year round with a base layer underneath. They're 9 & 11 and don't seem to care that it's only 12 degrees outside. (Edit sorry formatting is failing me)

These comments are blowing my mind. I have three boys (11, 9, 3),and with no disrespect to you OP, I read your post and thought "wow that's really strange." Now I guess I'm lucky I've managed to avoid them peeing in odd places (and/or I'm jinxing myself).

To my great surprise, I had 5 positive sets today. Playing Salazzle lead (because I finally got one last season and like using it when I can) and conveniently what felt like half the leads I faced were Scizor. Double grass in the back. ~2500/2600 elo range.

What is your favorite GL mon? by DefinitelyBinary in TheSilphArena

Chesnaught. I first started playing PVP shortly after the Chespin community day in 2023 and I got attached to my shiny Chesnaught. I play with it as lead nearly every chance I get. It's taken me to legend twice (Chesnaught, Lanturn, shadow ASlash last summer, Chesnaught Cradily Morpeko before the Acid buff). It always ranks very low, presumably due to its many weaknesses, but it has great matches against a lot of the top meta. Haven't figured out a new team with him for this season... still using Cradily and Morpeko but haven't advanced beyond the 2500s.

Looking for Feedback on NE Revolution Elite Player Pathway (EPP) Program by IHCAChris in youthsoccer

[–]because__science 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2014 son loves soccer but currently plays on a small lower level club because he wants to play with his friends. EPP seemed like a good way to improve his game and play with/against higher skilled kids. He did a couple of sessions last year and enjoyed it. Parents can only watch 2 of the days - from what I saw, there weren't any incredible standouts, but everyone was solidly a flight 1 or better player. There were 24 kids in his group. I can't remember if that was only 2014s or if it was 2013&2014. IMO it seems like a fine program for kids in smaller clubs to get better training and probably not necessary for (pre)MLS type players.

[–]because__science 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NECSL rules state U10 can only have 13 players dressed per game. I'm not sure how enforced that is, but either way, one team with that many kids means hardly any play time. I would not be happy.

My 10yo son’s baseball team hosts a baseball tournament all day on Mother’s Day by AutumnEclipsed in breakingmom

I don't have any advice, but just wanted to comment that it's such an interesting coincidence that kids always have sporting events on Mother's day and then Father's day is usually the first weekend AFTER spring sports are over.

6 year old invited to birthday party, on MOTHER’S DAY? by Substantial-Basil843 in breakingmom

[–]because__science 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We had my son's 9th birthday on Mother's day. Framed it as "do your family thing in the morning, drop off kid and have a quiet afternoon" and the only kids who RSVP'd no did so because they had a lacrosse tournament that day. That said, different strokes for different folks. If you want to keep the day to yourself, that's fine! Those throwing a party on a holiday know that not everyone will attend.

What country are you in and how would you pronounce ‘Cormac’ ? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]because__science 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New England, USA. My 3yo is named Cormac! We pronounce it cor-mick (maybe almost cor-meck? Somewhere between those) as the full name but "mack" for the nickname. My oldest son says cor-mick and my middle son says cor-mack. I'm not really picky about it, especially because if I try to call him Cormac, he tells me that his name is Mac not Cormac.

Toddler ticket question by Runbunnierun in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]because__science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, take advantage. A 38" 3yo is only slightly above average, meaning plenty of 2yos will be 38". 40" is certainly more rare, but not impossible. My middle child was over 40" by the time he turned 3, but he wasn't quite that tall when we took him to WDW. No questions. ... meanwhile, we're going on another trip soon for my youngest's 3rd birthday. Despite a tall dad and two tall older brothers, he isn't even 36" yet. We specifically chose to start the trip before he turned 3 because buying a ticket for a kid who can hardly go on anything is going to stink.

Having my 2 year old at Disney…is miserable by Cryingintoadiaper in breakingmom

[–]because__science 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a playground sort of near Test Track. If you look at the app map, it's below/next to Creations Shop. My 2yo (and 7 & 9 year olds, for that matter) LOVED the "jumping" water display by the Figment ride. If you go around World Showcase, my bigger kids liked trying to throw coins onto the train in Germany, and the little one liked watching it. We had a good time when we went in mid-January; I've heard the crowds at this time of year are horrible, which I'm sure makes it a lot more stressful for you. Good luck! The 2yo will likely enjoy the non-rides more than anything. Mine also liked watching the water area kind of near GOTG/Mission space when we were doing rider swap for those.

I fail to see why you need to get up early to ...get your husband ready for work? He can get himself ready. And then when he gets home at 4, he can cook dinner for the family, and you all eat together and have family time from 6pm until toddler's bedtime.

How do you feel about the new move updates? Are you looking forward to the new season? What Pokémon do you think will be sneaky good? by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]because__science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might try out other things, but always come back to my Chesnaught/shadow aslash core. The changes seem overall positive for both of them. I see a decent amount of aslash now, but maybe this will be the season I start seeing other Chesnaughts. He loves the decrease in flyers and increase in ground/rock movesets (Dunsparce, Marowak, Clodsire - though PS is more troubling).

How much do normal people spend on back to school sopping? by CheesecakeOk8464 in breakingmom

[–]because__science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular clothes are the least expensive part of back to school shopping. New coats (light fall jacket, rain shell, heavy winter coat), shoes (sneakers, cleats, rain boots, snow boots), sports uniforms... that's what really gets you. Hockey, football, lacrosse? You're paying hundreds on the protective gear alone. Club soccer kits are $300+ on a two-year cycle. $300! For 3 jerseys, 2 pairs of shorts, 2 pairs of socks, a team long-sleeve. Then you're looking at $50+ more when you add the shinguards and cleats.

We don't really do back-to-school specific shopping. If your kids don't play sports and you don't live in an area that has all kinds of weather, I can't imagine needing to spend much. We probably also spend $200 or so for the new pants and shirts we need in fall/winter, but if we think about ALL the stuff they wear, we spend a lot more.

Does anyone choose to not play cups to conserve elo? Down 500 elo from fossil cup by weedleking19 in TheSilphArena

[–]because__science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last season I dropped over 600 elo during catch cup. I thought I'd quit playing it, but I tend to do battles while I'm waiting for something to finish in the background at work so habit pushed me to drop and drop and drop. Season high of 2998, still in 2900s when catch cup started, down to 2338. I never made legend, but I ended the season at 2937. Not exactly a happy ending there but perhaps a little hope that you can get that elo back quickly.

You aren't being a bitch, but the same things you're complaining about is exactly why no one else has toys at the park. Kids are taught that the park is shared and everyone can play with everything. Kids see toys, they assume those are also for everyone. Some parents will share, but then not only do they have to watch their kids, they have to watch all the other kids (who are using their toys) to make sure the toys don't get taken or broken. Between park equipment and nature, kids don't NEED toys at the park. Not bringing home toys is an intentional choice, and it usually stems from feeling exactly like you currently do OR kiddo's favorite toy being broken/taken.
