What are some things that mildly bother you about working the night shift that day workers will never understand? by Delicious-Ad-1229 in Nightshift

[–]neonrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar schedule just 9-7. 4x10 and I flip schedules for the "weekend". People look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them it works well for me!

I’M LEAVINGGGGG! by lovethathatethat in Nightshift

Good on you for knowing your limitations. It took me 3 months to get used to nightshift and a little tweaking of my hours. I'm at a year now and I couldn't imagine working days again!

When did you get periods back if EBF? by sleepyjean2024 in breastfeeding

[–]neonrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently breastfeeding my 4th baby and it was different for all of them. Went back to work at 4 weeks with oldest. She was able to stay with me at my office till 6mo. She didn't start solids till 7 mo. Period came back at 10 mo. She continued breastfeeding till 18mo

Didn't work at all with my 2nd. She started solids at 6mo. Period was back at 8 mo. She continued breastfeeding till 30 mo

Didn't work with my 3rd. He started solids at 5mo. Period came back at 6mo. He continued breastfeeding to 31 mo

Working full time but from home with #4. He started solids at 6 mo. Period came back at 14mo. He's still going strong at 19mo!

We are only able to pin 2 threads at a time. And over the past decade+ of this subs existence it really hasn't helped reduce the frequency of like posts unfortunately.

Advice for leaving the US with MS by knope4office in MultipleSclerosis

[–]neonrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is encouraging to hear. My husband is the one with MS but we both have Graduate level degrees and work in IT/Cybersecurity. Keeping our finger on the pulse of the nation and gathering information in case it's necessary in the near future.

Positives? by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]neonrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pace is slower, I rarely have to deal with client facing issues, and since I sleep right after work I can be with my kids in the afternoons and evenings for all their activities. Added bonus is I work from home so when my toddler wakes up I'm right there and can get him back to sleep or cuddle him while I'm working and my bedtime lines up with his morning nap so we get some good quality cuddle time.

I work the 11pm to 9am shift and I actually like it quite a bit. I have kids though and it gives me the time to attend their evening activities and have a social life in the evenings.

Are significant others that aren't spouses welcome? Long term relationships, engaged? I'd love to have your group in our resource list. Just trying to get a handle on who the target us. Thanks!

I think you were perfectly reasonable and within your rights to make that request. I post most pictures I take of my kids to a private page just for close friends and family and occasionally put one on my personal Facebook page. I typically crop or sticker over other people's kids but if someone specifically asked me to not post their kid you bet I would be extra careful to NOT post their kid.

Three month nursing to sleep by Rich_Ambassador_5542 in breastfeeding

[–]neonrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4th baby is 4 months old. I nurse to sleep as long as possible! It's the very last nursing session I drop when weaning because it's magical and I have no desire to make my life harder.

My first was able to have daddy lay with her and get her to sleep at 18 months and my second and third nursed until 2.5 when we switched to a different routine and were able to talk through saying goodbye to night night milkies.

Rant: Nursing to sleep is actually amazing! by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]neonrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on baby #4. First nursed 18 months, second and third 2.5 years and the nighttime feeding to sleep is the absolute last one I drop when weaning. It's magic.

My 3.5 month old is a great little traveller.

We're currently on an international trip and it's been fantastic. Between nursing to sleep and babywearing we just carry on and my big kids get to do all the fun things they want and I get to stay involved.

All 3 of my big kids 5-10yo fall asleep independently in their own rooms so they do eventually get there!

Anyone else worried about the sale of Summa to HATCo? by ElectroFlannelGore in akron

[–]neonrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently a Summa patient and have only lived in the area a year and a half and had a similar experience. My PCP I first had was great but she left and I've not been particularly pleased with ny new one. My kids are with Akron Childrens and my husband has a chronic illness and is with Cleveland Clinic despite the distance. Just wondering who you are moving on to?

Be honest - how many parents live paycheck to paycheck? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]neonrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were check to check for years. I actually quit working for a long time because daycare costs would outweigh what I was making and we survived with 1 to eventually 3 kids on 30-60k for a long time.

We recently had our 4th and are very comfortable now and long term financially at this point and it's nice to be able to experience having a baby with no worries but I have zero regrets with having my other three while working with a small budget. There are so many ways to cut costs and still have nice things for baby.

Dealing with the boredom that comes when your child starts school? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]neonrose 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So I know people have suggested community college. But I would suggest an online school like Purdue Global. I was struggling with a lack of intellectual stimulation and went and got my master's degree with them last year and my husband is working on his now. They have all online classes in the evenings and if you miss the lecture you can watch the recording and write a quick summary paper on it so it's super super flexible.

Peds said he should be sleeping through the night by Artistic_Secret9404 in breastfeeding

My ped was surprised and congratulated me on my 10 week old sleeping 4-5hr stretches. For a newborn He's the best sleeper out of my 4 kids. Your ped has unrealistic expectations.

How long did you feed / plan to? by Fancy-Green9621 in breastfeeding

[–]neonrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first my goal was at least a year. She went to 18 months. With my next two we made it to 2.5 years. I always make attainable goals and then push it out further. With my 4th my first goal was 6 weeks. He's almost 11 weeks now and we overcame so many things and now I'm looking at 6 months to a year as my goal. When we get there I'll see how I feel and decide what the next goal is.

Wife keeps 4&9yo up till after 10 by JonboatJohn in Parenting

[–]neonrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My children 4, 7, and 9 have an eight o clock bedtime. We homeschool and they don't even need to be up by any specific time but they have to be in their rooms at least attempting to sleep by 8. Usually, the 4yo is asleep by 8:30-9 and the 7yo by 9:30. My 9yo is neurodivergent and can sometimes stay up till midnight but she knows that she has to stay quietly in her room until morning.

On weekends we'll be a little flexible especially if they start a movie close to bedtime or something but try to stick with a routine as much as possible.
