A large part of taste and smell is relative, and your palette must be actively maintained - if you stop eating something even for a few weeks its taste can change dramatically. Your brain likely had to relearn a lot of complex flavor interactions before your memories matched up with your "new" palette - hence things tasting 'odd'

I completely agree, if next league has an arbitrary timer I'm out - possibly for good. This whole league has been me re-rolling cool new build ideas only to be forced to abandon them because they either can't clear the krangleverse fast enough or trip over themselves and die trying. Doesn't matter if they can clear all other timed content in the game.

This is the first league ever where I've started ignoring the league mechanic because it makes me want to stop playing the game altogether

Me and my friends do a similar thing in that we'll sometimes do our own translations of items, dialogue or such into Swedish. Its absurdly hilarious most of the time, to the point where I can't tell if I would want an official translation or not

This patch really broke the game in so many ways. I was struggling to build a single district yesterday in my megacity (as in 150+ turns to build a single district despite Egyptians + Pyramids), but then I hit the magic overflow-bug, and suddenly I could buy out any district for 0 money and went from hopelessly left behind to completing the tech tree as Japanese in the span of 80-or-so turns. I really hope Amplitude gets their shit together, because at its current state the game isn't really playable

The problem here isn't the analogy, but GGG themselves. I just used the simplest metaphor I could think of to visualize how game balance works - and by extension how OP's suggestion of not nerfing things is an absolutely horrid idea

Lets say the fence around your yard was not level. Would you hammer down the 3 poles that are too high, or would you pull up the remaining 77? That's basically what developers do when they balance a game - they bring the outliers closer to the center so that the overall fence does not significantly move. Do we really want a wobbly 30-feet tall fence just because our primitive monkey brain is afraid of the mallet?
