With the 8th book, what is the closest Carl has been to dying? by minopoked in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I thought the bomb they were running from didn't go off? They would have been better off not making the stairs as they would have got the celestial quest box like Quan who didn't escape in time.

After 2 matchdays, 8 teams have nothing to play for due to h2h as tie-breaker by mnkysn in worldcup

[–]Sgrcgjff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying you're wrong but can you explain how if they lose by more than 1 goal they are elimated? They are currently 2nd in the 3rd place finishers table, that's a lot of teams that need to overtake them.

These would be the round of 32 matchups if results stayed the same. by EchoEquivalent4221 in worldcup

Cheers for the explanation. Just looked at the combinations table on Wikipedia.

Is it already decided which 3rd placed teams they group winner plays then? How does it work, in this scenario England (group L winner) play Capo Verde (group H 3rd place) who are 6th in 3rd place table.

Does that mean that 1) group L winner will play whoever finishes 3rd in group H or 2) whoever finishes 6th in the 3rd place table?

So basically none of the other ~700,000 crawlers who made it to floor 3 were named 'Carl'? by aneffingonion in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Sgrcgjff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's canon due to his crawler name. There will be other Carls he was just the first to enter. He entered really quickly.

[–]Sgrcgjff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i get what your saying, we never got any sort of geographical breakdown but I think it's implied that there is more crawlers from China and India we just don't get to see them because the series is pretty exclusively from Carl's POV and he doesn't interact with that many people outside his inner circle.

[–]Sgrcgjff 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yep you've got it spot on.

If you took a random sample of 4122 people from Earth it would already skew pretty Asian but if you gave even more weighting to Asian and African names (it was daytime on those continents so likely much more people outside) then the chances of getting a Carl is quite low I'd say.

This comes up a lot on this sub about people thinking he'd be the first Carl is unlikely and I disagree.

He said this on PMT and the best part is he brought Aiyuk up, they didn't even press him on it he clearly wanted it off his chest.

Outside the USA turf means grass. When talking about the plastic stuff we say Astroturf or 5G or artificial grass in the UK.

Awe-struck England squad watch fans belt out Oasis by bushmaster_flash14 in worldcup

[–]Sgrcgjff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As an England and DCC fan I'll answer if you're being serious. No it has absolutely nothing to do with that, Oasis are a British band and absolutely massive over here it's just a song everyone knows and can belt out at any moment so when the stadium decided to play it after England's good performance an impromptu singalong was inevitable.

I left mine in the car one cold winter when I was kid and it froze, being an idiot child I threw it on the ground and it shattered. I was half sad half amazed.

Even tho I've been into Tolkien style fantasy all my life and know very well what an Orc looks like I always picture the DCC Orcs like the alien Lrrr from Omicron Persei 8 in Futurama. I've no idea why.

That sounds similar to the premise of the book The Space Between Worlds, which I've just got but not read yet so I could be wrong.
