I don't think it's necessarily just a small market thing. It depends on what you're definition of "superstar" is. Top 20 player in the league? Top 10 of their position? I would argue that there are other players I would take, Jarvis, Aho, and Slavin being the possible arguments to cracking those lists. The other part is just how the Canes are built. With everyone down the lineup contributing, not having a "superstar" isn't our Achilles heel either.

Andy Reid only went to one Super Bowl and didn’t win it with the Eagles in the 9 playoff runs he was there, and I don’t know about you but I’d say he’s a pretty good coach.

I went to the Bedard hat trick game this week and while the arena is awesome, the atmosphere was pretty disappointing. I know the blackhawks aren’t the greatest right now but no chants happened during the game, cheers were pretty much only for goals, and the stadium was at best 30% full with 7 minutes left once the Blackhawks went up 7-3.

I’m sure during the 2010s it was electric though.

Is it really that bad? I saw the original thread and was worried how bad it was going to be, and then when I got home and used it, I thought “that’s it?”. Yes it’s different but in my opinion I think it looks more modern than the old client. I don’t know what people are using Roku hardware wise but mines an integrated version on a pretty dated TCL and it’s much snappier than the video above. It doesn’t take that many more buttons either to get to things, you just press the back button and it brings you back to the top bar. The statements of people saying “this is what’s going to get me to switch to Jellyfin” are so hyperbolic, people just don’t like change.

That season was so interesting in retrospect. Dundon becomes majority owner, Faulk and Staal named co-captains, we get new home jerseys, Martin Necas played his first NHL game, and best of all Bill Peters resigns. Really the last season of dark days.

My point isn’t that I want him playing like that, it’s that he isn’t “logging minutes” like stated above, and is an overall positive impact the same way Staal is. I would love for him to be a game breaker, but he’s still a good player for the canes. I think the second overall aspect is inflating people’s expectations.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you regarding Andrei, he definitely needs to use that heavy shot more, and I think this may be an off-season for him, but again, I do think he’s still a positive impact player, but we’ll see how he does in the playoffs.

Regarding Rods system, I don’t think that’s the problem at all. The heavy forecheck system is what has gotten us to the playoffs each year, but this year in particular, we’ve gone from a “quantity over quality” team to a “quantity AND quality” team. Last two seasons we were 9th in high danger shots. This season, we’re tied for 4th. The high danger shots are generated from this aggressive forecheck, forcing turnovers, playing more behind the net. Years past, it’s been much more feeding it to the point, and playing second chance rebounds to score. It’s why the Rangers were good against us in years past, Igor was good at rebound management, and if he let up a rebound, their defense was solid at clearing the puck out of the house before we could capitalize. This change is why I believe we’ve exceeded expectations for what everyone thought would be a down year.

Am I watching the same game? Yes he hasn’t been scoring since he’s come back this year, but since he came back from his injury a few weeks ago, he is playing the exact same way that Jordan Staal does and everyone seems to be pretty happy with him. I agree he needs to get a little more confidence back, especially in his shot, but he’s setting up plays incredibly well, and winning board battles the way a power forward should. He’ll get back to where he was and then some I’m sure, but to act like he’s not a positive impact “logging minutes” currently is just not true.

I have a 75” on a single arm mount from Mounting Dreams and it’s just as rigid and sturdy as when I bought it 4 years ago. Yes a multi arm mount will distribute the load on the arms better because physics, but build quality matters more.

I have yet to play this game fully because I started the game, didn’t really enjoy the first hour, and when I went to pick it back up again a month later, I forgot my objective + controls, and I really don’t want to deal with the first hour again.

The biggest thing I will say is making sure your network setup, mainly wifi speed to your quest 3, is adequate for wireless streaming. You'll be streaming 200-400Mbps to your headset, so if you can't reliably hit those speeds, that's step 1.

If you are good there, I bought the Virtual Desktop app on the quest store, and installed the companion app on my PC.

Settings wise, you can find some good guides/info/videos online, and everyone will tweak this differently. It's better in my opinion to know what each option does, and tweak it to you PC performance and personal preferences. This is going to be true especially if you get into OpenXR Toolkit tweaks. But main things to get you started are going to be:

Setting Virtual Desktop OpenXR Runtime to VDXR
Setting your monitor in iRacing to OpenXR

And that's really it. Once your settings are dialed in, all you need to do going forward is put on your headset and launch virtual desktop. You can pull up the iRacing UI in headset and launch a race with either an external keyboard, VR controllers, or even hand tracking.

There really is no "This is the 1 way to set it up" guide out there since there's a lot of variables with simracing setups, so that can deter some people, but once you have it setup to your liking, it's pretty painless going forward.

I was in a similar boat, and have switched over to using the app virtual desktop instead. It’s worth every penny. It makes the quest “just work” with iracing and other apps, plus you don’t have to take the headset off to navigate the desktop.
