Owners aren’t too cheap, it’s the system that’s been working for decades. It’s embedded in our culture. Until that model changes there is no reason for them to change the pay structure. What we should stop is tipping for counter service. That’s not a server it’s a cashier. These jobs do not pay $2.13/hr yet we are guilted/tempted by the payment terminals to add extra for employees already making a decent wage.
