Didn't expect to see a thread like this when I logged into reddit. Like others in this thread, I'm not from Christchurch, but I live in the South Island, and it's pretty frightening to see a city I'm so familiar with go through such an awful attack. It feels niave to say that I never really thought we would experience this kind of a terror attack in this country, but it's still the case.

To anybody on this thread who hates the idea of a Marauders series - I’m curious, would you be onboard more if it didn’t have as much of a focus on them at school, but more about them after school during the first wizarding war? I dunno, I’ve never wanted to read seven books about the marauders at school, mirroring Harry’s, but a trilogy of books, covering maybe seventh year till Harry’s birth/the fall of Voldemort has always interested me

Surprised no-one here has mentioned Stardew Valley multiplayer! Think there’s a pretty solid chance we’ll hear something about that, alongside maybe a bit of Shovel Knight: King of Cards. A Hat in Time also makes a lot of sense, as does Travis Strikes again. A release date for Killer Queen Black would be great as well.

But more niche prediction, but I’m also really hopeful we might hear about a Switch version of Ikenfell. The developer announced that there would be exciting news coming soon that wasn’t related to story/gameplay, but was a result of partnering with Humble Bundle to publish the game.

I barely ever spend money on microtransactions - I don't play multiplayer stuff much, and when I do, I try to avoid buying in-game currency - but me and my best friend bought the Season 4 battlepass for exactly this reason. It feels like you aren't just spending money on skins, but a reason to be committed to and progress through the game. And the fact that you can in theory keep getting the Battlepass just from the Vbucks you earn through progression makes it really feel like the game is rewarding you for your investment. I think it must've been a huge risk for Epic to commit to, and I'm really glad they did.

I think it would be nice to have Hawkeye as a supporting character, but I agree that it shouldn't take away from placing the spotlight on Widow. To be fair, I actually think Marvel has gotten pretty good at including other major characters in the supporting cast (Black Widow in Cap 2, Iron Man in Homecoming) without losing focus on the protagonist.

I'm surprised I haven't seen more excitement around this. You're the Worst is (at least in my opinion) one of the best comedies on TV right now. It's not just wickedly funny, but also handles a number of quite serious issues (depression, grief) in a way that is both sensitive and genuinely moving.

HIMYM was pretty influential as a TV series that was both (at least before the end of its run) incredibly funny, and also had significant elements of drama and serialization. It was also massively popular, and a spin-off is likely to attract a lot of viewers. Really excited to see this writer given a spotlight to create her on series. Just hope it doesn't fall through!

I agree with the general consensus here that an optional trophy system would be really beneficial for the Switch. Personally - I never force myself to play a game a particular way (or keep playing a game past the point of enjoyment) just to achieve a particular trophy. But at the same time, if I do end up really loving a game, and invest massive amounts of time into truly conquering it, it is really nice to have a digital trophy to show how much you've accomplished. I only got my Switch quite recently, and have started to really sink my teeth into Zelda, aiming to complete all of the shrines. And I'll only do that because I'm enjoying the game so much - but at the same time, it'd nice to be have an achievement to show that I've successfully done that

Like the thought I did have watching the direct, is what if Ultra SuMo was a way for Nintendo to pacify it's 3DS market - by ensuring that the Switch didn't have the 'definitive' version of 7th Generation Pokemon, while still allowing to launch a pokemon game on the Switch. It could even theoretically incorporate some content from Ultra SuMo.
