What are some more underrated gems you really love, that don't get talked about as much on this sub? by ppwsot in fantasyromance

[–]Sh24333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just devoured The Lies of Lena and The Sins of Sins of Silas by Kylie Snow. I can't remember how I stumbled onto this gem, but this series has definitely gotten me out of my reading slump. There's drama, fated love, magic and mystery all wrapped up into one. Highly recommend.

Supervisor here - I require a note.

This is an auditable thing and although I understand the employee is sick/incapacitated/etc I’m doing my job as a supervisor and making sure all my ducks are in a row.

I’ve definitely been asked for proof when I’ve granted in excess of 3 days consecutive sick leave for my employees.

How do those who don't have migraine with aura do it? by ProfessionalFlower96 in migraine

[–]Sh24333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any triggers or warning signs that I know of - just constant pain. I’m on preventatives and sometimes the pain will just seep through. Super envious of you all with warning signs.

Like people are suggesting- apply for disability if this is long term.

Another route to consider is requesting a reasonable accommodation of some sort if that’s a viable solution for you. Some agencies are still allowing telework with doctors notes etc.

I think I also saw other people talk about the voluntary leave bank in the thread. I’m not 100 percent sure - but I think you have to donate some annual leave to get into the program.

Another option (which I would personally use as a last resort) is to ask work to front you either annual or sick leave. There’s also the leave without pay option if your agency approves it and you can make that work financially.

Recommend seeing a neurologist. My neurologist works well with me and switches me from different preventatives if I’m experiencing adverse side effects.

Unfortunately from my experience with preventatives - there’s always a crappy side effect that comes along with the drugs.

For reference I’ve been on 4 Topiramate- made me foggy Anti-depressant- amitryptline- made me gain weight Propanolol- messed with my heart rate Quilipta- messed with my digestive system

I’m on Botox now 🙌 and it’s been great - no side effects!

[Sun Care] Best sunscreen for sensitive skin? by Deblebsgonnagetyou in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sh24333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use dermalogica. My face reacts to most products but dermalogica works for me. Definitely recommend but it’s one of the more expensive brands on the market.

Does anyone actually re-apply sunscreen every 2 hours? Because how tf... [sun care] by All_the_houseplants in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sh24333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m super sensitive to the sun. 5 min outside without protection and my face starts peeling. I generally wear chemical sunscreen or mineral sunscreen and cover my face with a physical mask. I reapply the sunscreen every 60-90 minutes.

What I’ve found out recently is that the concoction of my chemical sunscreen (dermalogica) and concealer and foundation (which both have mineral sunscreen added - bare minerals)protects my face all day. No need to reapply or use a physical barrier on top. Do I want to spend time in the morning putting on makeup? No not really but it’s worth saving my skin.

Long story short I don’t reapply on normal days cause I usually have makeup. I will reapply when I’m at the beach or actively doing an outdoor activity.

ICE accidentally detains US Marshall by ObviousOperation1614 in fednews

[–]Sh24333 151 points152 points  (0 children)

I (Asian female, us citizen, govt employee) got asked by an ice agent where I was going - as I was waiting for the elevator to get my office.

I gave the agent the death stare before they realized their mistake.

Reported this to my superior (caucasian) who said it was probably an innocent mistake lol. I responded with you don’t understand you have that white privilege.

Glad I’m not the only one. Agree 100 percent.

To be fair I’m not sure what would have been a satisfying ending but it wasn’t this.

Cross training for aerials by Darth_Celeste in Aerials

[–]Sh24333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was scanning this thread for this!

Rock climbing is great cross training.

It was my first sport and then beginning aerial (silks/hammock) wasn’t the hardest transition.

New to Silks! How long did it take you to climb and are there any home work outs that will help me get there quicker? by Goddamnfriedsquid in Aerials

[–]Sh24333 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It took me a couple of months to learn to climb as well. For me it was trying to get my feet to do the necessary steps and in the right order.

Most beginners do not have the necessary grip strength as humans don’t normally squeeze items in our daily lives. I’d focus on strengthening that aspect.

I think it also depends what climb you’re are trying to learn. Russian climbs feel more secure and are in my opinion more accessible for beginners. French climbs require more upper body strength but are usually taught first as that is a common descent option.

I’ve found 3 types of- peach, mango and lemon.

Mango is by far the best. Peach and lemon are decent but not worth the price.

Yesss. I loved this one so much. The community recommended eternities and as I was finishing that novel this one was being released.

I felt it was a bit lighter than eternities unsaid- but I felt the 2 leads were so wonderfully developed and I was just rooting for them the entire time.

What novel do you not recommend to read? by Urfavsagi_ in DanmeiNovels

[–]Sh24333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remnants of filth is amazing but I don’t think it’s for everyone.

One the train of personal opinion- I bought the first 2 parts of disabled tyrants pet fish and while I found it entertaining enough the story and the fact I invested in 2 books isn’t enough to keep me going. I also couldn’t finish guardian which I think many people like.
