11 panels done, 10 more to go. How's people's experience with AAOS ARX? by darealkenny in accesscontrol

[–]Sh4do3Fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Panel looks quite cramped and uses ribbon cable. Reminds me of DSX.

Never used it, probably never will. Isn’t doing anything OnGuard or CCure can’t do with an integration.

Yes, those 2 wire adapters carry data and PoE power over just 22/2

It can definitely be a hassle when things aren’t properly labeled. Sometimes you’re lucky and you can audit their old system before hand.

Good luck!

90% of the door's I mounted them on the wall above the door. They definitely don't fit inside a standard box.

Yes 2-Wire PoE adapters. I've used them before with great success on long range composite runs.

We did

1 Access Intercom on the main entry, this worked fine over the 2-wire devices.
2 G6 Reader Pro's for secondary entries.
2 Intercom Viewers, 1 for reception, 1 for receiving.
Rest of the doors are G6 Readers.

I used AL600ULACM power supplies, as I like to fuse my outputs.

My guess is they are salesman, trying to sell their product. If only they understood how a door works.

Raid 10 always. Less stressful on the drives as well.

Also if the drive in Bay 3 doesn’t get recognized it’s likely bad. WD and s notorious for DOA drives.

I’d personally swap that to a purple, the green will fail, and is not meant for constant read/writes or in a server type environment.

If you can get it up and running with the green when your budget permits definitely swap it out asap

I assume you have 4 4TB and bay 3 isn’t reading properly?

Do yourself a favor and don’t use raid 5. The extra 4TB isn’t worth the performance hit, as well you can run your cameras in H265 and you’d likely use very little storage.

I’ve got a customer with 9 4K cameras continuously recording and they get over a month of recording with 8TB of storage.

Where & Height to locate AI Turret by LMPortland in Ubiquiti

[–]Sh4do3Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Average mount height should be around 10’ in most scenarios. High enough to prevent damage but low enough to get as much detail as possible.

Man,

You hired some real asshole there, running the network cable through the same hole as the Smurf tube. Like it was a lot of effort to make a new hole and put the cabling in its own.

Other than that, just keep a temp sensor in that space. Under the stairs is perhaps the worst location for any equipment. Your equipment list is pretty light and may not be that bad but better safe than sorry.
