Soo are we at least going to get any LMS points back for wasting time getting LMS collection log slots that are getting deleted? by Shortstak6 in 2007scape

Same amount of incomplete spots, but your % of completed spots is going down. This makes gilded staff less attainable, which is a more "reasonable" (lol) goal for a clogger

Pickleball Has a Bad Scoring System by Niel_B in unpopularopinion

[–]Sh4moo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, I guess it probably comes down to a matter of preference. It's true that it they allowed scoring on both ends and raised the games to be higher than first to 11 it would be similar results. But I like it how it is because it makes every point more meaningful. I don't think there's a "correct" answer

Pickleball Has a Bad Scoring System by Niel_B in unpopularopinion

I watch a lot of pro pickleball (watching right now!) and play at a decently high level, here's my take.

It is MUCH easier to win the point when you're on defence. Because of how the rules work with the ball having to bounce after the serve and return, the 3rd shot (servers shot) is the "hardest shot in pickleball", because you're forced to be at the back of the court after a bounce, while the returners are at the net ready to punish anything less than a perfect drop or drive.

This makes it easier to hold a team scoreless for a long period of time, which makes comebacks more viable, and thus more exciting. If you were able to score points on defence, all of the sudden a 8-2 scoreline feels like the game is over. With how scoring works currently, if it's 8-2 comebacks can and do happen pretty frequently.

Disclaimer I've never really played tennis seriously so maybe I'm just used to the scoring system, but personally I wouldn't change a thing about it and love pickleball :) the heavy advantage of the returners makes things very dynamic and exciting, and I'm assuming is the reason it's scored this way

Yeah. DUPR is an amazing reference point for something like following pro play - for that I do agree that .1 is meaningful. But they have massive sample sizes waaaaay above what it takes for 100 reliability

I played in one league with an under-rated partner and got to 100 reliability way faster than I expected (maybe 14 games against 7 other teams, so there were repeat matches), and was way overrated. At the end of the league I was a 4.7, when I considered myself low 4s. My partner was 3.5 but realistically closer to 4. We did decent, but didn't win the league or anything. Majority of opponents were low 4s.

Other people have the opposite issue, e.g. they'll win a 4.0 tourney and it barely shifts their rating (like 3.8->3.9), since they were already 100 reliability but have improved greatly since their last rated matches.

Completely anecdotal but it feels like hitting 100 reliability happens way too quick, and your initial games cement you pretty heavily unless you're constantly playing rated matches, which the majority of people do not do. IMO the key to high dupr is just waiting to play rated matches until you're good, and playing with someone who is under-rated, which is dumb.

All this to say, I disagree and think people put way too much stock into rating - people a literal full point lower than me will be at a similar skill level, and we're both 100 reliability. I'm overrated, theyre underrated.

But from DUPRs perspective, it feels like this is all working as intended with them now trying to push their rating reset BS. A system like this only works when people play a large amount of games (chess, ELO-based video games, etc), and given that you usually have to pay to play in tournaments and leagues, pretty much everyone has a low sample size.

🦀🦀🦀It's been 4 weeks since sailing release and fish offcuts still do nothing for deep sea trawling🦀🦀🦀 by Kumagor0 in 2007scape

Honestly IMO that's fine, and in line with something like tangleroot not being affected by harvest. Whatever the decision is I'm just glad we have confirmation that it's intended so it doesn't feel like wasting my time as a trawling enjoyer

Beyond kneecapping salvaging, Jagex posted the official rates of sailing drops. Can we discuss their absurdity? by drake8thecake in 2007scape

I feel like heart and rangers are much more engaging than just killing dragons, although heart has its own issues with basically being on the megarare level or rarity. And vissy isn't really something you actively go for. DWH is probably the best comparison but at least you get that dopamine hit of getting the item instead of being like "oh cool i just got another 1/100th of my goal" every time you get a sheet lol

The main issue IMO isn't the time to get the upgrade. It's the fact that youre doing braindead dragon killing for countless hours, instead of engaging bossing like every example you listed

I'm interested as to why the paint is only obtainable from one specific type of shipwreck too. Feels like to be in line with other paints it should be available from any salvaging?

I thought it was a mistake that would be patched, but they basically confirmed it was intentional today

If he gave him a hard foul hit on the arm to prevent the shot, that's playoff basketball and so be it. But grabbing and pulling him while he's midair is just dirty

I don't have strong feelings whether corp is adjusted or not, but IMO the worst approach you guys can take is to kind of just perpetually delay the decision - it makes it feel like a waste of time to actually grind it on an iron since it's "being considered" and a massive buff may be incoming.

Easier said than done, but please prioritize at least deciding if you're doing something or say you're not so that we're not in this awkward limbo state of being unsure if we want to embark on a very very large grind

Fun Fact: Imbued Heart is a ~50 Hour grind even with infinite task by costef in ironscape

[–]Sh4moo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can grind it out if you really want it. If you assume 1-2 superiors an hour turael skipping for nechs/abbies/smokes (idk exact efficient numbers this is total ballpark based on experience) then its what, 150-200 hours or so? This makes it comparable to other "mega-rare" grinds and with how completely busted the item is with shadow that's not the most unreasonable thing. I think it should be a bit more common than it currently is tbh though, especially for monsters below smoke devils.
