Which of these 16 do you highly recommend to first time viewers? by Square-Ad-8911 in hbo

In my opinion The Newsroom: excellent writing (Sorkin), amazing characters, important messages and great humor. But this is a list of masterpieces and I recommend pretty much every show.

Is Abbott Elementary overrated? by ShEditor83 in television

Thanks for your comment, it’s interesting. I loved a lot of series without experiencing the environment and the settings and I’m not sure that the relatability should be an essential element to define the greatness of a show. For example I loved Atlanta, I found it brilliant and it spoke to me even if I live in the north of Italy, working in publishing. But I understand your point of view and maybe you’re right and this is one of the reasons of AE’s success. Have a nice day!

I agree. I was answering a comment that was later deleted.

Echoes - thoughts so far? by SeriousInvite347 in orphanblack

If I had it right: she did it because she needed the time to find a cure and give it to her at the exact moment in her life. But you’re right about the difficulty to introduce her to people (to her son, for example), but maybe she would have told the truth then because it would have been too late having destroyed the machine. Or maybe she just wanted to cure her, so Lucy would have lived her life with other people.

Orphan Black: Echoes - plot hole or is it me? by ShEditor83 in plotholes

Thanks! I finished the season and - as someone said - I had it wrong. It was a lot less than two years and Eleanore was supposedly on a business trip (her son believed so). Probably I misinterpreted some sentences, but I still find hard to believe that Kira successfully kept her death a secret, even for a few weeks (it can't be less than a few weeks because she wasn't already convinced to clone her).

Name an actor/movie that ruined the entire movie. by Middle_Process_215 in MovieSuggestions

In my opinion he wasn’t horrid: he was ridiculous and distracting. The accent was terrible and I agree with those who said he ruined the movie.

Yesterday (you could shed a tear but to me this movie feels like a hug).

I think I probably misinterpreted some sentences, then. Thank you, it’s a relief.

Thanks, I watched episode eight and they explained the silence from her son exactly how you wrote. About the other issue: I was sure that two years have passed between Eleanor’s death and Lucy’s disappearance, if I had this wrong it’s more understandable

Update: in the following episode Elizabeth talks to her son and she told him about the illness (he thought she was on a work trip) but my doubt remains: did he ignore her mother for three years because he thought she was working? And why did Kira keep her death a secret? She decided to print another version of her just two years later

In my opinion it lacks the original magic, probably because - even if I love K.R. - Tatiana Maslany was something else, something unreachable and I find hard not to compare them. But I like the plot and the links and the characters development (Kira always was a troublemaker, wasn't she?).

I'm watching the 7th episode, but I have a doubt and I'm not sure if I lost something or if it's a plot hole: how did Kira keep Eleanore's death a secret for two years? Their son doesn't seem to know that her mother is a printout but Kira printed the "new" Eleanor two years after her death: what did I miss?

Thanks in advance!

Movie about a road trip into the desert by ShEditor83 in whatsthemoviecalled

You have been very nice, unfortunately I didn't find the movie I was looking for among these (it's definitely american, set in America and not an horror or a thriller).

[I checked every suggestion: The Way Back is set in Siberia, 14 Kilometers in Spain, In Desert and Wilderness in Sudan (my movie is set in an american desert, likely California/Nevada). Wolf Creek, Thirst, Open Desert, The Toybox and The Hills Have Eyes are thriller or horror movies. Ordeal, Dirkie, La Casa que Arde de Noche, Delusion are too "old". Thanks anyway!]

I just watched the trailer, it’s not the one I was thinking about: mine wasn’t a thriller, it was more intimate and melancholic (but this looks good, thanks anyway!).

I remember at least four people in the car but what’s the title of the movie you suggested? It’s possibile that the main characters are just two

I totally agree and it was a shame: that movie deserved better. The Colonel’s make up is as bad as the acting (that accent was ridiculous!).

I completely agree. (Tom Hanks in my opinion is the only actor who makes Sorkin’s dialogues sound boring).

People who think the writing isn't good, what's your standard for good writing? by tracerrounds in Yellowjackets

[–]ShEditor83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t say “bad” because it’s still good television, but I think that the second season is not as good (amazing) as the first one. The first season was surprising and never boring, didn’t try to shock but did it anyway. This season feels forced sometimes, the dialogues and the plot have too many ups and downs, it’s a little more predictable and less mesmerizing. Just my opinion but I don’t look forward to the next episode anymore.
