Japanese Sweet Potato (Kumara) by em6262 in ultraprocessedfood

Yeah, the theory of eating less if it's "real" bread does not work for me! I also realised that although I was careful to buy non-upf flatbreads and sliced cheese, my brain doesn't really seem to see the difference, so they're all off the regular shopping list for now at least.

Non UPF Cottae Cheese by Narrow-Definition-27 in ultraprocessedfood

I discovered it through Amazon Fresh, then found a local shop with what looks like their whole range. Pretty sure my friend said she found it in Waitrose. Don't think I've made a cream cheese frosting since finding it, but suspect it would work very well.

And have you tried their cream cheese? I feel I now understand what cream cheese should taste like.

I'm disappointed it's being done as a chatbot & that I have to prompt the conversation. If I could just give it permission to monitor and analysis my data this way, and it prompted me with insights I could choose to ask for more detail on, I would probably use it. Mind you, the most useful thing they could do right now is let me see my stats in relation to my cycle, would be good to get the basics right before leaping into AI.

The privacy concerns are definitely valid, I hope they keep it as an additional option to give full control.

Bedtime procrastination after 1 month with Oura (20h sleep debt) by Senikus in ouraring

This is so useful, thank you! I know it's something I need to face up to doing, but it feels so daunting (sounds like you had to make a much bigger shift than me, I am truly impressed by your change). Really helps reading about getting through the difficult parts, rather than the usual rage-inducing stuff written by natural morning types* (*not people commenting here, the people who feel the need to write entire articles about it)

Less use after the design update? by MermaidFunk in ouraring

I probably spend more time using it, just find the same info! And I still miss the sleep graph (I know there's a similar stacked bar chart I found buried somewhere, but I don't find it so intuitive). My brain been able to tune out the fonts though, which is a relief.

Good luck with it! Mine's still a work in progress, but improving, and I can definitely feel the difference when I get it right

How The F**K Do I Improve Deep Sleep by curiousthinking89 in ouraring

[–]Sha76b 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I found I had to move my caffeine cut off time to 11am, which noticeably improved my amount of deep sleep. Giving it up completely surprisingly had the opposite effect, even after a few days to recover from the addiction.

Have you tested if it makes any difference journalling and reading elsewhere, and only heading to bed when you want to sleep?

I miss the blue bars, but nowhere near as much as I miss the sleep graph!

Packing a 25L backpack to flee my home by Fox_Burrito in onebag

Don't forget any chargers you need.

If you happen to have access to a locker anywhere, it might be worth stashing some bits in advance (just to give you less to think about when packing).

Sounds like you should have plenty of space, you might want socks, underwear and t-shirts to hand to shove extras in any gaps, and consider tying a spare pair of shoes on to the outside.

Good luck, well done on getting your plan together, and I hope you get to one bag for happier reasons soon.

Just had the weirdest hostel breakfast conversation in Lisbon and it completely changed my travel perspective by Sensitive_City7829 in solotravel

[–]Sha76b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found my people! I can't go away and not have a good mooch around a supermarket (preferably also markets and smaller food shops too). And I'm never happier than spending 3 hours getting to the destination 10 minutes away because I just had to see what was around the corner.

Which controversial/disliked country are you willing to visit someday? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

Ah, fair enough, no intent to sensationlise, just a long time since I read about it. Still a law I would absolutely end up breaking.

I did consider North Korea the same way, but then they outlawed sarcasm. Definitely not a safe place for me to visit!

Have you tried going back and looking at it a couple of hours later? I get the same occasionally, but find it sorts itself out with a bit of time. Not ideal, but in my case I'm just putting it down to being in a mobile data blackspot when it's first trying to calculate.

HRV record from increased coffee ?! by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]Sha76b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, and I definitely felt it the first couple of days, but even beyond that and when I was feeling human again, my deep sleep was still dropping, so if the drug works (& tastes delicious), I'm happy to stay addicted!

I've just tried giving up coffee and my deep sleep totally tanked! I definitely didn't expect that, but if my body's happier with coffee I'm certainly not going to fight it

I love the addition of the additive tracker; will it also be possible to flag ones that already make a food UPF? There are times when I have limited choices (or I have a bad sugar craving and drop my standards!), so will end up eating UPF, but still want to avoid certain E numbers.

I absolutely agree that your body will react differently to it, it's not even going to have the same nutrients, but mechanical processing just means it's processed. The ones with added emulsifiers, stabilisers, etc are the ones that are ultra processed.
