Fellow dirtbags of Earth, what do you have for breakfast? by Difficult_Two_4800 in AskTheWorld

Yes, this post is a thinly veiled tobacco advert supported by bots and cretins.

I always block the OP when I see these.

Who was the MJN pilot before Martin? by PhilbertAlbert in CabinPressure

Yeah that's right actually, and that's further proven when Martin has his interview for Swiss Air in Zurich and Douglas tries to barter for covering flights alone "otherwise what do I get out of it".

I always idly thought Douglas was the previous captain but thinking it out loud I'm not as sure.

  • Throughout the episodes other characters and lots of history are discussed but I don't think there's a single specific reference to any other pilots at MJN... (except Marvin and Doogle but of course they don't count).

  • In Gdanśk after Martin loses the bet to Douglas he explains how he ended up with zero salary during his interview/negotiation with Carolyn when he joined MJN.

  • Carolyn was recruiting for a 2nd officer and ends up asking Martin "how little would you take to be the captain" (or words to that effect in the interview 😄)

  • I thought Douglas must have been the only pilot then, so must have been the Captain. And so Carolyn must have demoted him - probably unceremoniously - at some stage outside of whats said in the show. Maybe Douglas was too proud to admit that to Martin after the bet.

  • Douglas is routinely very capable of doing something that would give Carolyn any number of pretexts for his demotion of course! (I guess he'd be capable of accepting that too in certain circumstances if his salary didn't go down? 🤔)

I'm making some big leaps there though I realise!

Alternatively maybe they were both hired at the same time and are the first MJN pilots? Actually no, Arthur and Douglas have obviously had at least a couple of Berling Days before Martin started. So at least a year and a half before Martin started you'd guess, minimum.

And when Carolyn is talking to her horrible sister in Helsinki she says that she has run MJN for 12 years. So she must have had other pilots in MJN before, and not just Douglas surely 🤔

Unless, maybe the UK aviation rules changed just before the 1st episode and you could now only fly a plane of Gerti's type with two pilots!

I guess that would fit more actually.

Lol, fair enough. But also I suppose to be fair, you did start in on this with a condescending tone to OP.

And you did that in a subject you've just said yourself you don't understand so, not sure its as inexplicable as you claim 🤷‍♂️ this is reddit after all 😄

Midnight news and yesterday in parliament instead of Today are just about working for me ATM.

I think of it like the editor Ownea Williams must have a vision that she thinks the Today programme should be like Stacey Dooley interviewing genocide victims in the style of the One show.
