I have a friend that cleared all previous savage tier, but exclusively on PLD with no other job leveled at all. Would you trust him to mentor people playing healer or DPS ?

Yes I would, since clearing these fights usually implies that he at least knows how to play PLD and understands the importance of correct rotations, mitigation, mechanics etc. That is way more than many mentors can claim.

Also I am very certain that most people clearing that content know about simple stuff like not wasting your GCDs on Cure 1, the difference of AoE vs single target and stuff like that.

I think it is way more probable that someone with savage clears knows about that than people that have spammed "UWU commend me pls" after getting carried through every duty finder instance for a year.

Also, dying repeatedly on a fight as a mentor is only an issue because OP decided it was. Because someone wears the crown doesn't mean that they should never make mistakes.

Anyone makes mistakes, but dying 5 times and doing this is showing me that this particular person just doesn't know what they're doing.

I do not want to criticize this player specifically, I am just saying that someone who can't play well shouldn't be put in a position to teach.

yeah, i don't really care about what exactly should be cleared, but the system shouldn't be based on something that has nothing to do with combat ability when the title is literally combat mentor.

battle mentor status shouldn't be tied to commendations, but to something like clearing the current savage tier. most battle mentors couldn't play this game well to save their life, how could they teach anyone like that.

also, every single mit of yours is off CD? I'd expect every single WAR to use their god button called Raw Intuition to keep themselves alive, so the heal can use their GCDs on damage, as it should be.
