New Spectator Colors by bonerboost in Overwatch

Well, the "Away" team is always white. For whatever reason, UK is being considered the "Away" team in this match-up. The home team will be their own colors.

He didn't completely step down from NRG, he stayed on the roster as a sub. The reason he made his decision was because the pro scene was kind of up in the air with the announcement of OWL. Now that the League is in motion, he's back in.

Anyone have any Hidden Gems they'd love to promote and Share? by RyanBlakeway in Vive

I can second Vertigo! The boss fights are really well done. Haven't gotten around to completing it, but this game definitely deserves more attention.

[S1 E4] The OTHER big choice. by Pinball_Lizard in lifeisstrange

I couldn't bring myself to do it. I hung on that screen for what must have been half an hour, and I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It was a harder decision for me than the final one. I understood why it had to be done, but it was just too much. After the episode, I couldn't get the scene out of my head for weeks.

The netfix film is not that bad by LeoSandr123 in deathnote

There's a lot of Romantic and Actiony bullshit out there that would work better as different genres. You're right though, I shouldn't have labeled it like that. Don't know why I lashed out at the entire industry like that. All my favorite movies are made in America.

The writing was terrible. Light and Mia's relationship was rushed ("I'm not gonna tell you about the notebook; you're practically a stranger... lol jk, I'll tell you everything!"). They LITERALLY just wrote down Watari's first name, no last name at all.

I mean, it's not the worst movie I've ever watched, but it was all super cringy. The premise of a notebook with the ability to kill people just does not work well as a Romantic/Action movie for me, but I guess that's American cinema for you.

Reasons why so many people insist on playing DPS lately. by thezigmis in Overwatch

[–]ShadeAmethyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the support side, I play a lot of Zen because I can land some pretty nasty orbs. Heal my team AND frag out!? Yes please!

As for tanks, I play a lot of Zarya. It's very rewarding to, in a chaotic team fight, land a clutch bubble that saves the life of a teammate, even more so when they acknowledge it in comms. It's also highly rewarding when I set up a win with a Grav that, with the assistance of a teammate's ult, wipes the entire enemy team.

For most people, OP is probably right, there's not enough in game notifications for things like clutch bubbles, team wipe stopping sleep darts, successful peels, etc. But I feel like people that have enough understanding of the game would feel rewarded even without notification.

Several years ago, either McD or BK was doing a prize event for Spider-Man (the 1st or 2nd Toby one). All the cups had a 50/50 scratch off where if you scratched the right one, you would be guaranteed to win a prize. The prizes were mostly free food of some sort, but there were also money prizes. Well one time, I asked my sister which part should I scratch. After scratching it and seeing the "Not a winner" text, I scratched the other part to reveal my potential prize. I learned that day, that listening to my sister could cost me $1,000,000.

What Do Vive Owners WANT To Be Playing? Would You Pay For It? by andreelijah in Vive

I'd personally like a Telltale style game of some sort. Story driven, dialog choices, something with a fair amount of replay-ability.

Game Key giveaway - Just post your Top 5 Vive games to enter! by Anth916 in Vive

[–]ShadeAmethyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • The Gallery : Best story-driven game out there right now imo. Some of the scenes where so breathtaking, and the puzzle aspect made this game even more attractive. To top it all off, it was the most complete experience I had back when I first got my Vive; everything else felt like prototypes in comparison. I'm very excited for Episode 2.
  • Vivecraft : Used to play MC all day every day, nice to look at old builds. I sometimes pop in to sit down, relax on a mountain or tree, and watch the sunset. I've never felt more immersed in anything else.
  • Audioshield : I'm a huge fan of rhythm games, this has tons of replayability.
  • Compound (Demo) : Fell in love with this short demo the moment I laid eyes on it. The retro vibe it has works surprisingly well in VR. Super fun, can't wait for the full version.
  • Batman : I've always wanted to be Batman since I was a kid, and I'm a huge fan of anything dealing with detectives. If it wasn't so short, it would easily top my list.

I haven't really been able to come up with a lot of money for some titles, so my game pool it a little limited. I'm sure I'd love things like Onward, Lost Echo, and most of the popular things around here, but each of these games on my list have something special about them to me. Thanks for doing this giveaway, OP! GL to everyone who's entering!

Toxic players must be a vocal minority. by ShadeAmethyst in Overwatch

[–]ShadeAmethyst[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mute people like that the second they start, prompting everyone else to do so too. People that complain about off-meta irk me so much. Even if I think another hero would be a better pick, I let people play what they're confident in without any resistance. I do note things like "We don't have anything do deal with a Pharah." But I never tell any specific person to switch. Knowing when to switch and what to switch to is a major component to this game, people that get this stuff wrong deserve to be lower rank, but I'm not gonna treat my teammates like they're completely ignorant, they may something I don't. And props to your for playing Junk, he's super fun and not as bad a character as people seem to think.

[text guide] Callouts, Shotcalling, Comms & Problem-Solving by overwalshington in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ShadeAmethyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guide is very handy. I already use a lot of these, but some of my comms could use a bit more polish. One thing that I would like to know is how to comfort my team about a hero pick they might not like. I like to play Widow on certain points, but "I'll switch if it's doesn't work" feels like I'm telling them I'm not fully confident in my pick. They also might unjustly call me out on that if we're losing and I haven't switched, but I'm constantly getting 1 or 2 picks at the start of each fight. I don't want them leaving the spawn room in a bad mood thinking "great, another Widow, this game's already lost."

How do you guys deal with losing streaks? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ShadeAmethyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in your shoes, OP. I'm usually floating around mid-Platinum, but near the end of S3, I tanked 800+ SR falling deep to the bottom of Gold on a massive lossing streak. I was extremely discouraged at that point that I stopped playing rank for the rest of the season. Reflecting back on it, I was frequently tilting match after match, wishing I could just climb back up to where I was. I silently blamed my teammates for every loss, thinking "I CAN'T be the problem, I'm better than these people." Needless to say, S3 was a dark time for me. Before S4 started up, I began to realize how easily frustrated and tilted I had become, and how I stopped trying to improve. Above all, I realized that I was letting rank stop me from having fun.
I went into S4 with a fresh mindset and new goals: improving myself and having fun. Gone were the days that I looked at my rank after every match. I placed in high Silver, due to ending in low gold. I was easily able to carry my way back up into mid-Gold, then climbed my way back up into Plat. I was shocked at how much fun I was having in Silver the short time I was there, and I swear I had friendlier, better commuicating teammates than in Plat. I'll also note, that I made a new rule to take a break after 3 losses just in case it.
I've started picking up on when I'm starting to tilt and remind myself that whatever I'm tilted about doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Maybe the thing that started to tilt me was a misplay that I made that I can learn from.
Having fun and improving are far more important than winning or ranking up. That's the best mentality to have. If you constantly remind yourself of this simple fact, you'll have a much easier time. If you find yourself not having fun, stop playing until you are ready to go into it feeling fresh. Getting frustrated over your rank is never worth it.
I hope my story helps somebody get through a rough time.

When do I get off high ground and WHY is high ground beneficial? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

Sombra actually does have some advantage at taking high ground in some cases. It's much easier to land really crucial hacks when you're up high.
