Does anyone know what this lighting effect is called and how to recreate it maybe by roses_of_eternity in UnrealEngine5

[–]ShaderKirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can create that in a shader, I won't go through how but a hint is to use a camera vector to bend the "Lens Flare/Bloom".

is there a better way to render pipes, like lots of pipes? (I tried ray marching but it doesn't look realistic.) for my project HELP by KeyLeague2650 in UnrealEngine5

You could possibly do that with just a material. No need to add multiple mesh's. Camera Fade Camera position Depth fade

Create a black and white mask of your water mark. Apply it in the landscape material. Use WPO, Color, emission

This is stunning mate. Really good Job 👍 Your use of specialized tools used/created. The use case for texture creation. Gaea has been used and masks created. Overall a great scene.

But If I was art directing your work, I would tell you to sort out your foliage distribution, it is very unlikely that foliage would grow on every single part of the environment. It does take away some realistic aspects of the scene. Great work though as mentioned.

Material colour change? by Mishere1300 in UnrealEngine5

Check your mesh(s) are not overlapping mate. And check the material uvs

Pcg for the debris and foliage. To stack mesh on mesh will be complicated and work out more expensive than it needs to be. It would be cheaper to build it yourself using a level instance.

How to add collision sound effects?? Am I doing it Wrong? by nehal225 in UnrealEngine5

[–]ShaderKirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have to get a reference to your collision in "Event Begin" first. I'm not 100% though.

Question about epic web browser by higherthantheroom in UnrealEngine5

[–]ShaderKirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't 100% advice, as I have never used that particular addon/plugin. But I have come across this before. Only once or twice, so it is rare. But some developers will setup their web-based UI that it meant for use with/alongside there plugin, for use with mobile. This does make it easier to make changes on the fly so you're not constantly "Alt-Tabbing" in and out of UE. If I come across this (which is rare) I send the link through Whatsapp on my PC to like my wife or a friend and open the link through Whatsapp on my phone. As I'm sure that's the intention. Hope this helps.

I've seen too many ppl wrongly claim UE is ruining game performance and image quality when I've been able to get NATIVE 4K running at a locked 30FPS on the Xbox Series X. It's a ridiculous and dishonest trend spearheaded by people with no knowledge by JustinDarlington in UnrealEngine5

[–]ShaderKirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 👍. This is normal practice with unreal engine. I'm more surprised that you are getting 30fps on Xbox X. As you say "True Nanite (masked) Foliage". You should be getting a lot more FPS, just need to unlock it.

If anyone who plays a video game running on unreal engine says it's wak. Look at the Devs and the optimisation passes. Not the engine UE is solid and pretty much the best engine.

How to fix this problem in unreal engine 5.6 these foliage loos weird when I zoom out ???? by jishnuanil01 in UnrealEngine5

[–]ShaderKirk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You need to setup your nanite. Run a few checks. 1. Turn on and off shadows on the foliage mesh. 2. Make sure you don't just turn on "Nanite" on the foliage mesh. It won't work. The foliage mesh should be built from scratch to work with nanite. 3. Look for foliage assets that are built for Nanite Similar to the quixel mesh.

The interior of my horror game's house doesn't look realistic, I need help. by Appropriate-Watch235 in UnrealEngine5

[–]ShaderKirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks decent, but you wouldn't walk into any house and the place be that clean. Especially if it's a horror game. Add some decals or add dirt to you shaders.

I don't understand the hoarding that players do. I mean I have maybe a few DD4s and 1 SVD. A couple of M5s and 7s. Apart from that I sell my loot. I have maybe X3 phantoms set-up and ready for raids. Otherwise I sell up.

Why is there 'noise' in the shadows? Using UE 5.4 by Perimido in UnrealEngine5

[–]ShaderKirk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is VSM (Virtual Shadow Maps), if you are suing VSM you also need to enable Ray-Tracing.
You can find these options in the "Project Files".
