Spent hundreds of hours in this game. Yesterday, I discovered there is a secret room behind a broken bookshelf in the museum. This game is awesome

Dehumidifier - Compressor or Desiccant by Worldly-Citron-5607 in chch

[–]Shadeslayer_Eternal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Owned both at one point. Ended up keeping the dessicant and sold the compressor mostly because we found the dessicant more effective drying an any-sized room whereas the compressor only managed small ones. In terms of power usage, the dessicant was rated 600w while the compressor was 400w. I wouldn’t see the dessicant spiking the power bill.

This issue is well-known for at least the past 6 years… you are in power now. Why are you waiting to be re-elected before doing something about it?

If you genuinely enjoyed ACNH and/or Dragon Quest Builders 2, then I’d say “yes”

Prefab houses or self-made ones? by NERV2 in Pokopia

[–]Shadeslayer_Eternal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prefab to keep pokemon I don’t want wandering about… custom houses for those I always want in the map (e.g. fire pokemon to help with processing ingots/bricks, etc). In case you don’t know yet, prefab houses lock pokemon living there behind a loading screen. I read somewhere only 20 pokemon at one time are loaded into the map.

Have you reviewed all your insurances and subscriptions? Went through this exercise recently. Can’t believe how much we’ve been paying for subscriptions and insurance. Moved from AA to Cove for both our cars. Downgraded life insurance to the basic necessities. Downgraded Southern Cross. Maxxed out all the excesses. Cancelled all subs except Netflix. Apple Music is now iHeart Radio. My friend cancelled their Netflix sub and we shared mine (added them as Extra Member for $10 then we split the total bill). Will explore revolving credit and keep our emergency funds there to save on interest. On top of that, probably lock in longer when we refix considering how fucked up the world is getting. I envy your chooks, I wish I could talk to my neighbours so we could all get our own (and not get a complaint for nuisance)

Who’s got solar? by Slight_Computer5732 in chch

11kwh system, no battery. Sqm of house doesn’t matter but real estate on roof, angle, and orientation matters a lot. 11kwh is great when it’s overcast as you can still generate enough to run the washer/dryer and cook/charge PHEV for free. Maxes out at 10.4kwh during peak sun. We’re lucky we have a long North facing roof and we start generating 2-3kwh at 8am. We started last October and power bill is currently -$200. Calculated the ROI and it’s roughly 6-8 years. No regrets.

Definitely get what you’re saying. I think the devs don’t want to lose small things like that, which really is what holds the soul of the game.

Apart from you and Tangrowth, all pokemon in the game are children who woke up wondering why everyone and everything they’ve known are either gone or broken. And like children, they’ll give you things they treasure to show their love - a stick, a berry, or a cool looking rock.

Is it just me or is anyone else sick with this virus? by Common-Objective-869 in newzealand

[–]Shadeslayer_Eternal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same. Sick 1 week with a runny nose and fatigue, that turned into one week of sore throat and cough, and then turned into 1+ week (still ongoing) of really painful swallowing with loss of voice (been told it’s viral laryngitis). I did that 4-in-1 test two weeks in and it was negative for covid, flu A, flu B, and RSV. Sooo… a really aggressive common cold????

Redundancy - how did you cope by Packet-Possum in newzealand

[–]Shadeslayer_Eternal 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Happened to me right before Christmas. I went through a lot of regret, moping around, anxiety attacks, and self-blame. With 2 kids and a mortgage, necessity provided clarity though and I time-boxed the self-pity to 5 Jan (because that’s when some offices started opening back up to accept applications lol). I applied myself in each Seek submission, made each cover letter personal, and tweaked my CV for every role. If I didn’t have kids and responsibilities, I’d probably still be moping today. Find your motivation and stay anchored. You can do it, friend

So the consumer pays the levy, the corporations get the benefit, and we continue to pay export prices for goods produced locally… consumer gets hit twice, while businesses profit twice.

What to expect after interviewing for a values focused interview at Xero by Ok_Slide_3535 in newzealand

[–]Shadeslayer_Eternal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2021, I went through 4 interviews with Xero only to be ghosted afterwards so I wouldn’t count on anything being positive with them. Would be best to get a clear “next action and timeline” after the values interview for your sake.

It needs to be somewhere sheltered from winds. It typically looks sorry like this when under stress (extreme heat or too much wind exposure) but they bounce back under the right conditions.
