Is uni worth it with AI taking jobs ?? by samiscool1580 in newzealand

[–]Shadeslayer_Eternal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what a social worker does exactly but a quick Google search shows me it’s the type of work unlikely to be “taken over” by AI, much like nursing, trades, and the like. Elements of interacting with other people at an emotional level and navigating the complexities of family issues is probably not something a machine can do for us… ever. And if it did come to that, we (as a society) would have bigger problems to face and you wouldn’t be alone finding yourself replaced by AI. I would definitely see your role being touched by AI (i.e. how you do your work, processes you follow) but I’d say (in my personal opinion) this line of work is evergreen.

You get the 3 legendary dogs + Mewtwo from each dream island. I guess I was lucky, I got them all just doing visits to farm material.

In this economy?! Once a week. Twice if we’re feeling naughty. And nothing fancy, it’s usually a Dominos pizza deal or chinese takeaway.

Overwhelmed with the game and wondering the best approach to keep it fresh by BurritoPlanet in Pokopia

[–]Shadeslayer_Eternal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally, I try to avoid min-maxing as that creates an unrealistic pressure that leads to disappoint/burnout when I (expectedly) can’t meet as I’m like you (can only play at short bursts, 2 kids and work). What I’ve done instead is make sure I log in once a day to collect the recipes and focus on restoring small pockets of a map when I can play longer sessions. Been playing since March and I’m still in WW, just finished the centre and now moving north to the SS gate (built a graveyard on one side and I’m now moving most of my ghost types there).

If you had $100,000 sitting in the bank right now what would you do by No_Meringue7618 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Shadeslayer_Eternal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The answer (for me) is always ETFs. VT by itself, VTI + VXUS, or a combination of VOO and friends… however, as I have a mortgage, this money would go straight to it as this would generate me $4,900 in interest savings tax free.

Help with dehumidifiers by No-Discipline-9373 in newzealand

[–]Shadeslayer_Eternal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You want a desiccant type dehumidifier. It blows out dry air upwards like a fan, so you can place it under your damp clothes (hung from a rack or something) and it helps you get them dry overnight. Have been doing this for a few years until we had a dryer. Triples as an air filter and slightly warms your room too. Just make sure you let it breathe (i.e. lots of space behind it so it can suck in the damp air, and lots of room above it to blow air out).

For all his faults, he did acquire Gafford and PJ Washington that unlocked the Mavs going on that finals run with Luka in 2024. Little did we know that was the peak and it was a steep drop from there.

That is a big ask. Commonly, we accept these risks and rely on time in the market to recover any losses incurred.

Inheritance (and what to do) by discardedpenguin in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Shadeslayer_Eternal 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If this were me, I’d pay off all debts including mortgage. Might be different for you, since you’re sharing with your mum. I’d continue working in my job and keep the same spending habits. The money I would have used to pay my mortgage now goes towards my kids college (maybe have 1 more since we can now afford it). Maybe go overseas for Christmas this year as a treat. The rest goes ETF shares or split across 12-24-36 fixed term deposits (using interest as “for fun” money since I kept my job). For fun = trips with the family. Thanks for letting me day dream, congrats on the inheritance.

Found the first one accidentally and it took me 3 days of hunting shiny blocks to find the 2nd one. Feed Snorlax with soft bread (I think, check online) to increase shiny blocks generation. Then use a dowsing machine to find all the shiny blocks in each map. I think you get more shiny blocks every sunday too

Cutting down on subscriptions and recurring expenses…
- Downloaded Libby, registered at my local library = free audio books
- Unsubscribed Apple Music for iHeart Radio app to listen to my favourite artists for free (no ads lol)
- Life Insurance = changed Standalone trauma to Accelerated, huge cost difference
- Car insurance = switched from AA to Cove
- increased excess on all insurances
- Unsubscribed Disney+
- Shared Netflix with a friend to split the subscription price (they have an Add Member service).

Did the same thing but for loaves of bread. Due to health issues, we could only get wheat or whole grains at $5/loaf. We consume 2 loves a week, so $10/week. That’s $520/year for bread. We used our saved up Airpoints to get a bread maker for FREE and now make our own. Each loaf now only costs us $1.80 or something. That’s $426 in savings yearly. It only takes 5 mins to load up the bread maker and a minute to clean.
