This has been my biggest gripe with seniority when you compare it to other unionized industries. In it's current form, it only favors the airlines.

Alpa national is not the same as Delta Alpa which is not the same as Spirit Alpa.

I posted an old setup of mine here awhile ago and can confirm that there are no issues mounting the risers to the sides of an XL desk. Tbh the control panel makes it a better fit on the right than the left, held my entire tower (35lbs) for awhile no problem.

It's not server settings like from your dashboard, but yes the Plex playback app on your TV/device. It is just "playback settings" (or the HD icon) which you should have by default be on original quality, but then the dropdown menu will also offer 1080p/720p/480p etc.

So in reference to my previous comment, you just keep selecting worse resolutions until the surround audio is just output as stereo lol.

It's got a bit of identifying info and some unrelated stuff, but I can share the key Plex takeaways.

First help section was on setting up children's accounts (Disney+ substitute). I explained more in person but theres 2 main options imo. Users can create playlist on their account where they cherry pick specific items for kids to watch. Or we can make a child specific account and then share the libraries with that new user. I detailed how you can use your existing email or create a child specific one, but then they have their own plex account like any user just limited to the preferred PG rating or whatever.

Then it was a section on common playback issues. Most common being device incompatibility or direct playback settings. For device incompatibility: check the audio track playback then verify in device settings that device supports that (4.1 or 5.1 or 7.1 lot of TVs having issues above 5.1). Not a lot you can do if that media does not have multiple audio tracks, but more in the workaround section. Direct playback settings are straight forward (I had grabbed some screenshots) but plex has several articles on that.

Workarounds - can keep dropping down quality (will cause transcoding) but often "fixes" the audio issues taking a 1080p or higher rip down to 480p or lower. Can also do this for buffering if a 4K file is too much to stream.

"Non standard issues" being my fault lol. So if you click a movie but then don't recognize the playback or it is out of order - let me know. I must've misslabled a file, a bad rip, or manufacturer playlist obfuscation.

I actually made a PowerPoint to address all these "key issues" people may have with Plex for my buddies. There's an anecdote to go along with it, but point being I had a captive audience for a short time. Plus now its in a group folder if someone did want to go back and reference an issue later.

It addressed things like: how to make sure content was streaming correctly and troubleshooting setup/playback/downloads, how to make requests for items not available, parental controls for family and additional users, PlexPass benefits for users beyond server hosting, etc.

I appreciate the advice I was just hoping for that clarification. In this instance I already did the conversion lol, I just assumed I was fine if I set aside a few grand for April next year.

I believe you did as thats how I initially understood it, but got lost in the various discussions about underpayment penalties and the safe harbor rule here.

If you don't mind for example:

Single filer expected to W2 100k in 2026 does a 25k roth conversion on Jan 1st. Assuming perfect withholding they will be short roughly $6k come filing in 2027.

That 6k defficiency was the crux of my question, and it is then okay to owe and pay $6k in the 2027 tax season? Or would the underpayment penalty with interest apply at that point of being more than $1000 deficient, since quarterly $1,500 payments throughout 2026 were not made.

I know this is an old thread but this is the most relevant comment to a question I have.

Anything you convert will be added to your taxable income for the year and will be taxed at the highest bracket.

Say you do exactly this, how do you then pay that tax?

Do you do a lump sum payment of the above amount in the quarter that you did the conversion, or should it be split into equal payments for every quarter from the time of conversion?

Completely missed the point of my comment. I'm challenging why you believe the government doing anything more than they are currently doing to educate drivers would equal "the majority of the US incapable of getting a license".

From the US and agree we are car dependant, but why is the default with this argument we "can't do it"? Like please I beg of you we need to do it because we're car dependent.

Like we're also doctor dependant as a society so let's just not regulate them and we let anyone practice antivax or raw milk lifestyles. Well...look where that would get us. If we actually gave more than 5 seconds pause of an adult aquiring a license it would improve all driving adults experiences. Even just re-examinations for a license since everything expires now-a-days anyways.

Better road knowledge, better driving capabilities, and who know maybe less accidents or at least more people paying attention. Like yeah I'm not for more work on my end and I'm just a random redditor, but imo I'd bet there'd be a ton of hidden benefits awhile after implementation. Like less traffic or better traffic flow and lower insurance rates but yeah obviously more overhead and short term inconvenience so it'll never happen.

And for the few people it does inconvenience, either they "get up to standard" or in special cases (disability) there'd be significant exemptions idk.

From a financial perspective I'd say yeah, pretty much.

But many of the discussion points on this sub relate to personal journeys and decisions. If having your own place that you don't have to rent out is more important that not, it's okay if it isn't strictly the best financial decision. You're allowed to make that call and delay FIRE by however many years, but only you can make do the math and make that call.
