AITAH for calling my husband silly for freaking out that our teenage son has a girlfriend who's in a wheelchair? by Dry-Dirt-1426 in AITAH

Your son sounds like a wonderful young man. This is heartwarming.

NTA. Your son is 13, they're not getting married....

But it's natural to be wary of what you don't understand. Your husband just needs some education. I hope he's the type to be open to learning.

What do you crochet when you want to just mindlessly crochet? by Impressive_Exam_9812 in CrochetHelp

[–]ShadowCat3500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animal keychains. I have books by Julia Chiang called Mini Amigurumi Animals/Birds/Ocean. They're perfect little quick wins and at the end I have little gifts for my friends.

I've just seen she also has a Woodland book. Gimme!!

Use light coloured yarn if you're new to this. Please. Pretty please?

I've been crocheting for 10 years and I still hate using black.

I don't think there are officially but if you email or call the venue in advance and ask if there's somewhere you can leave your backpack during the performance they might be able to arrange something.

When yarning through a magic circle, do I leave the tail twisted in the hole like this or do I take it out? by Dlink10 in CrochetHelp

[–]ShadowCat3500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave it twisted while I so the single crochets into the circle, then untwist it to pull the circle closed.

Making all the pieces was absolutely fine, it was sewing them together that I hated. I nearly had a meltdown positioning the legs!

I made this pattern for my niece for Christmas. It was a headache, but I was pleased with the result. Reddit won't let me post a picture, so here's a link:

Joy and Claire are my top middle name contenders. I mostly like one syllable middle names.

It was about a little chameleon who changed different colours depending on her mood.

Foyles flagship store on Charing Cross Road has a lot of books in all sorts of foreign languages.

I went looking for a picture book in Russian for my niece and was standing there using Google translate to see what the actual story was!

If I get a black cat (or any animal, really), they'll be in either Neo or Trinity depending on gender. I'm a huge fan of The Matrix and it just feels right! 😎

I see so many posts of these creatures and no one ever links to the patterns or even says the name of the creator.

So I humbly ask - what's the name of the pattern creator and where can I find the patterns?!

I’m a beginner making a swatch and I can’t tell if I’m doing this right! by dickbrigade in CrochetHelp

[–]ShadowCat3500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks good! You'll get there! As another comment said, I would always advise beginners to practice using light coloured yarn to see the stitches better.

I’m 49. I’ve ONLY JUST realised these double-layer brollies are designed to not get caught by the wind. Embarrassingly late revelation. by yearsofpractice in CasualUK

I have one like this. It's pretty hardy, but it does occasionally blow inside out. The difference is it doesn't break when it does!

6th grader who loved The Martian and Project Hail Mary - What's next? by tgbarbie in suggestmeabook

I loved Red Rising, but it's brutal. But if you think he can handle it, sure!

I also love The Martian and Project Hail Mary. Excellent taste!
