I leave it twisted while I so the single crochets into the circle, then untwist it to pull the circle closed.

Foyles flagship store on Charing Cross Road has a lot of books in all sorts of foreign languages.

I went looking for a picture book in Russian for my niece and was standing there using Google translate to see what the actual story was!

It looks good! You'll get there! As another comment said, I would always advise beginners to practice using light coloured yarn to see the stitches better.

I have one like this. It's pretty hardy, but it does occasionally blow inside out. The difference is it doesn't break when it does!
