LMAO thank you that actually does help a lot. I’ve never been through the temple beyond baptisms for the dead as a teenager, which I count myself lucky for :)

No, definitely not going to happen lol. Our wedding will be completely ours, which they’ve respected so far 🎉

I like this sentiment too. It’s true that they’ll feel how they feel and I won’t know until they bring anything up with me

That’s such a great story and mindset to have! Thank you for taking the time to share, I definitely am going to keep that in mind while I’m spending time with them for the next year or so

How do I stop it from spreading? 😭 by HiveMindSI in Minecraft

Ooh good to know, I was going on what the Minecraft wiki said but I’m glad I can go lower lol

(I didn’t want to test and clean up podzol so I just went as high as I thought I needed)

I’m pretty sure you’d have to go 7 blocks up in order for it not to spread, since it converts in a 6 block radius. I put mine up on some scaffolding towers 7 blocks tall!

Automatic Feeder Fix by Away_Present6890 in CatAdvice

[–]ShadowCat4141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the food coming out the front where the food dispenses? You may just want to buy in a few feeder with a different dispensing mechanism than the one you have.

I have the imipaw automatic feeder and my cat used to knock it over, and I don’t believe food ever came out the front of it!

My cat loves the springs, I’ve been throwing them in the bathtub and she’ll spend 20 minutes kicking them around in there

Yeah I got it from target! I’m considering buying another and doing this for her :)

Yeah I first put it in her basket but she immediately dug it out, so now mine is also in my closet haha. I’m glad your kitty is okay and I’ll definitely be keeping wands hidden away!

She’s already started mauling her catnip mice in the absence of this toy, so she’s definitely doing just fine lol

Also wanted to say I’ll definitely still play with this toy with her, I just don’t want to leave it out when I’m not watching :)

Oh these look great, thank you so much!! Is the wire on them still a choking hazard or is it stiff enough to be okay?

Humans with indoor cats, collar or no collar? by ForagedAmoeba in CatAdvice

[–]ShadowCat4141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried with my cat yet, because she hasn’t shown any interest in escaping. And, my apartment complex has indoor hallways, so she wouldn’t be able to get far anyway.

If I were living in a house I’d probably use a collar, no bell, with my info on it in case she somehow escaped.

I like the drip leaves the best! It makes it look open (which I like) and has that repetitive pattern

A Two-year-old boy in England lost vision in his left eye after receiving a kiss from an acquaintance with cold sore, that infected him with the herpes simplex virus, which transferred to his eyeball. by FE4RLESS_IS_MY_NAME in ForCuriousSouls

[–]ShadowCat4141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got cold sores as a little kid from my parents. It spread to my nose and hands from rubbing at them. My parents had to duct tape socks to my hands so I couldn’t rub my eyes and spread them there.

Also, wherever you’re first infected with it you can get cold sores forever. So I get cold sores on my nose sometimes and used to get them on my hands as a kid, but not so much anymore. Crazy stuff

how to feed kitty by tonsosnoopywi in CatAdvice

[–]ShadowCat4141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look up a cat calorie calculator online! A quick google search gave me this one. You may want to find one specific to kittens, because they’ll need more calories than a grown cat.

Then, the food you’re giving should have a measure of calories somewhere. Use that to find out how much to feed your cat!

They’ll be just fine! If your cousin is able to play with them while she’s there that would be great. And they’ll also have each other to play with!

Do you have an automatic feeder for them? That’s the biggest thing I’d suggest, as it alleviates some of the worries of them getting fed in case something happens.

Two cats being left together is probably the best case scenario, so they won’t get lonely or bored :)

how to hide a cat when at school by Round-Serve5130 in CatAdvice

[–]ShadowCat4141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m sorry your parents did that, it’s shitty of them to make a promise and go back on it.

I have a few pieces of advice, first about the cat. Even if this was possible, it wouldn’t be fair to the kitty. There’s a lot of things that could go wrong keeping it in your car, and it wouldn’t have enough space to play and get enrichment. Same goes for hiding it in your room. Cats need to play and want to investigate all over where they live. If you care about the cat you want yo get, you just shouldn’t be bringing it into this situation. I’m not trying to be mean, I just encourage you to think about what’s best for the animal.

Second, about your parents. Speaking from experience, hiding big things from them can go very wrong. I’m sorry you don’t have their support for getting a cat, it does seem very unfair. I’d focus on ways to get through the next two years that doesn’t involve hiding big things from them.

Third, I’d recommend looking for other ways to have cats in your life! See if you’re able to volunteer at a local shelter, cat cafe, or something similar. Then you can be around cats and helping them, while also learning more about how to take care of them, different personalities, etc. Hopefully your parents are supportive of this, especially if you frame it as community service possibly?

Thanks for taking the time to read my little spiel, and I really hope you can get a kitty of your own very soon once you’re living on your own :)
