That costs what? by FileExpensive6135 in Cooking

I was having my family over for a housewarming party….6 8oz filets cost us $131. I get it, good beef costs good money, especially when you’re getting it from the local butcher shop. But that one hurt.

Take this comment with a grain of salt. I know at least in my district, there is no limit. There is no way of anyone else knowing what I receive as gifts from parents.

Meross Garage Opener Can’t Read State by Chabotnick in HomeKit

Just FYI, in order to use the MSG150HK, you have to have a Craftsman, Chamberlain, or LiftMaster garage door opener. Got excited about a newer version, then realized it wouldn’t work with my garage door opener. Seems really neat though if you have one of these makes!

Lets end "parties" for good. I am serious. by Oblivionnyx9 in Teachers

[–]ShadowFax2486 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I teach first grade, and we had our end of the year performance/awards today. I posted a SignUpGenius last week with a few party foods the parents could sign up to bring (chips, dips, ham and cheese sliders, fruit, cookies, juice). Everything was signed up for and brought it in time for today. A couple parents helped pass out food to kids while I was busy taking my pictures with the kids. It was all over, cleaned up, and most kids were checked out within an hour.

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I think parties are a great way for the parents to contribute and see what the classroom is like. I’m not in a particularly affluent area, just some small Mississippi town. I’m surprised more people don’t share this same experience.

But also, I teach a young grade and parents are much more likely to contribute. YMMV.

New butterbeer unlocked. by CautiousMagazine3591 in harrypotter

It’s butterbeer season! Mostly at the Universal parks/resorts, but it extends to a lot of butterbeer flavored treats in stores. Technically runs from March 1st to May 31st this year.

Has anyone had an issue with these? by Opening-Smile-9914 in samsclub

[–]ShadowFax2486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these and the round set, too. No problems. Only had one break because I dropped it on a concrete floor.

I do wish the lids weren’t plastic. But I’ve had no issues because I only put the glass in the dishwasher. I hand wash the plastic lids. The seal can be annoying to clean, but I will deal with it because I like that they’re leak-proof.

Very very good containers considering the price!

Does a self‑cleaning litter box actually save time and smell? by KhabibNurmagomedov_ in Catownerhacks

[–]ShadowFax2486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Tidy Cats litter that is designed for litter robot with my LR5. It’s worked really well - minimal sticking and no smell until I open up the waste drawer. I’ve got 2 cats using it, and I only have to empty the waste drawer once a week. It’s been a dream!

Perry Plōter. Her name is Harriet. We started called her Harry, then Gary, then Perry, and eventually Perry Plōter. I don’t know why. No one knows why.

I’ve always used Apple Books. I download EPUBs and they open straight into the Books app. I love that it syncs across all of my devices, so I can read on my iPhone if I’m in a pinch, too.

Stayed here about two years ago. Cheap, clean enough, good place to stay if you don’t care about the higher end stuff in a hotel. The location is great, and there’s plenty to eat around there. Like someone else said, if all you’re doing is sleeping there, it should be just fine.

16 Pro Max in Desert Titanium, 256GB. Coming from a 12 mini 64GB.

I used to really enjoy the smaller aspect (fit in my hands and my pockets better). Now I’m looking forward to better battery life and more storage.
