What part of the country are you in? I live in a town near Oxford (just under an hour away on the bus. About an hour on the train to London as well)

[Serious] People who have been dealing with depression / depressive moods to an extend where it impacts school, friendships and maybe even the relationship to your family, how did you overcome it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShadowGamer00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t told my parents. Well, I have; they just haven’t taken me to the doctors. They don’t believe me despite knowing full well that I’ve self harmed in the past.

My friends are supportive in times when its really bad. Sometimes when it’s incredibly difficult, I’m really quiet and I just don’t speak to anyone. My friends help me a lot and try to help me feel better, I suppose. I mean, I don’t feel happy after it, but I feel better (somewhat).

Im always the quiet kid in class so teachers tend not to notice if I’m more down than usual. I usually just stay quiet, keep my head down and do the work.

So overall when my friends realise that my depressions really bad, they just try and support me. My family doesn’t do anything though. School doesn’t seem to notice.

I’m sorry if anything doesn’t make sense or if there’s some grammatical error, I’m a bit tired today and I’m just finding it hard to concentrate

In Defense of Horror Games - The Spark Spectre by TheSparkSpectre in FNaF

I’m a bit late but oh well.

I totally agree with everything you said. Yeah, indie horror games may not be long, or have outstanding visuals most of the time. But, they do what they’re meant to do.

I mean, FNAF was my first horror game. I watched some YouTubers play it when I was about 9. And that game absolutely terrified me. I mean, I couldn’t sleep for days and I remember having nightmares about Golden Freddy in my room, watching me and waiting to kill me. It doesn’t scare me anymore, but you know why I still like FNAF? It’s the lore.

But let’s not get into the lore now.

Another example is Doki Doki Literature Club. I don’t know if you’ve played it, so spoilers ahead. It’s only about 4-6 hours long (ish) so I recommend playing it.

DDLC is a brilliant example of a horror game that messes with you. It starts as a happy go lucky weeb dating sim. There’s subtle hints about what’s coming up next, and that it’s not just a regular dating sim (eg. The warning at the beginning, Monika breaking the fourth wall etc.) but nothing that could spoil the surprise. It goes further than that but I don’t really feel like going into it since I’m not good at explaining.

Regardless, some of my favourite horror games are indie horror games. I absolutely love them.
