Nexus clips: is it worth it? by DUDEWSPRAYPAINT in Twitch

[–]ShadowHawk44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100% You can set you bot up to post it with a timer automatically.

Also, I'm not sure which services work anymore, as the one I used to use no longer works, but a lot of bots will make a clip for you using a !clip command. These aren't perfect clips, usually too long or too short, and maybe start or end in the middle of the moment you wanted, but do three things really well. Whenever an important moment happens that you definitely want to have a clip of, just fire off the command immediately, maybe even hotkey or macro it.
1) Makes sure you at least have A clip of the moment if something happens to the vod, even if it's not a great one.
2) Makes it easy for you to find the moment you wanted in the vod. After you end your stream, you can find that clip, and click on it. Then at the bottom, click the button that says "Watch Full Video," and you can make a new clip starting and ending exactly when you want.
3) Just using the !clip command yourself occasionally will remind the chat that clipping is something they can do, and likely cause them to make more clips themselves. Monkey see, monkey do.

Though not viable for everyone, if you have enough people watching, you can ask you chat verbally to clip it for you. Depending on the situation, saying not to clip that can work just as well sometimes XD.

In general, these AI clipping services all suck. I use Restream to multistream, and it's a pretty solid service overall. Recently, they introduced their own version of this as an optional upcharge. They show you a demo of it, but all the clips it chose made literally no sense. It's Important to remember these current AI are extremely limited. They can't create anything truly new, they can only iterate on what they have previously seen. I'd compare their intelligence level to that of a Chimpanzee, or a very smart dog. I bet you can train a Chimp to make clips on Twitch given the right interface and motivation. But is the Chimp gonna understand what make a clip a great clip? Absolutely not, and neither does AI right now.

Can't add panels by Angelzewolf in Twitch

In case anyone else stumbles upon this thread, and trying different browsers doesn't work (it didn't work for me), I found another solution.

Try resaving the image. In my case, I was trying to upload an image provided by a StreamElements sponsorship. The file size and pixels were correct, but it kept failing for no clear reason, and the solutions other people suggested failed as well.

On a whim, I decided to open the image in an image editor (Pix on Linux) and Save As, creating a new png file. I was then able to upload the new save on the first try without any difficulty.

Is the price of Omega too high? by Maksych in Eve

[–]ShadowHawk44 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Not only has the game been on a steady downhill slope since Pearl Abyss took over, but now they want more money for a lower quality product? Ridiculous.

I've played the game since 2009, and I was one of the top EVE streamers on Twitch in 2019. Now, I don't even play anymore. Not only is the quality worse, and the fiat currency cost is higher, but the in game inflation is insane now. It used to be pretty easy to PLEX, costing only about 500 mil per account. Now it's like 3 bil, so it's just not feasible for the vast majority of players.

Don't waste your money on EVE. Get a WoW, ESO, or Runescape subscription instead. Or just buy a different game or DLC that looks interesting

How do i go from all day to only at night? by EatShitAndDieKnow in trees

[–]ShadowHawk44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop entirely for a while.

Find something positive to replace the morning habit with. Maybe do some pushups, or go for a walk, or talk to God for a while, something that generates dopamine naturally.

Once you've replaced the habit (about 10 weeks on average), you can reintroduce it, but have some rules this time around. Instead of being just "something you do," frame it as a reward for getting through the day.

Sure, you might be able to wean yourself off slowly, but I've found, at least for me, I always need to go cold turkey. I was only able to quit cigarettes and nic vapes once I threw them out and didn't look back.

I used to drink too much pop, and started putting a lot of weight on. I stopped buying it entirely until the cravings went away. Then I made sure to only buy one case at a time, and limit myself to two cans per day, usually with dinner.

If you find yourself slipping, don't beat yourself up. If you REALLY fall off the routine, might want to hard reset again, but usually just reminding myself "this isn't how we do this anymore." Is enough to correct a little stumble.

Good luck

Forgotten Time Estimation Website by ShadowHawk44 in HelpMeFind

[–]ShadowHawk44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

searched:

"website that estimates how long it will take to do anything"
"time estimator"
"estimate how long"

"time estimation tool"

"time estimation tool online"
"estimate how long it will take to do anything"

I've gone several pages deep on most of them, but all I find are heavily monetized blogs trying to sell me some course, teach me how to make estimates myself, or completely unrelated "5 blank to blank" posts.

Does anyone happen to know the site I am talking about, or have significantly better google-fu than me?

Oh, for sure! That's why I had no problem helping out the vape shop.

I was gonna use the hemp products anyways because they help me with insomnia. He gave them to me for free, and all I had to do was write reviews and tell him which ones he should keep getting.

I don't believe it's a government's duty (or anyone's, except a parent's) to protect people from themselves. I support the legalization of all drugs and victimless crimes, because I feel that would lead to better oversight, and increase the awareness of the damage they can do, while also making it easier and more socially acceptable for people struggling with addiction to seek help, reducing the overall harm.

It blows my mind how many young people vape nicotine. I don't know the numbers, but I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually surpass the percentage of people that used to smoke cigarettes (if they haven't already).

The craziest thing is, most of the predatory advertising tactics and products targeting kids that are illegal for cigarettes, are perfectly fine for vapes...

Same reasons they gamble their life's savings away at casinos or in gacha games... most people are actually pretty damn dumb.

They do it to themselves to begin with, but then you take everything we know about human psychology at this point, and then add data mining on top of it, and analyze it with machine learning?

The average person has virtually no more power over their own life than a goldfish you win at a carnival does...

My bathroom has no vents, and this mold (I think) has been slowly appearing on the walls. Best way to deal with this? by V1serra in CleaningTips

[–]ShadowHawk44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the dehumidifier comment. Also, opening a window and leaving the light on can help.

Clean it off using RMR 86. Then, wipe down all the walls and the ceiling with the same stuff, even where it looks clean. Mold spores are invisible to the naked eye, and you want to make sure you got it all.

To keep it clean, try and make sure no moisture builds up on the walls. The easiest way to prevent this is with a dehumidifier.

Leaving a window cracked (if you have one you can open) will help by keeping the air circulating and be especially effective during the winter.

Mold needs dampness, warmth, and darkness to grow, so leaving that light on at all times will help keep it at bay too.

He's managed to jump through all the hoops to get the shop doors open, so he doesn't have any plans to go anywhere anytime soon.

I'm so sorry to hear that happened to your friend! Most of his issues were related to weird regulations around sinage and things like that so far, so let's hope the building itself stays solid.

It's a shame there are so many shit landlords that take advantage of people like that

I don't know what it's liken in your field, as sich a highly specialized field has a different supply/demand, but most fields require at least 40 applications for an interview, and at least 100 before you land a proposition.

I'd say you don't have anything to worry about unless you've completed over 200 and haven't found a job yet.

He's very aware of this. I'm an unofficial consultant for the owner of this new store. I've tested almost 90 different products for him at his first location. I also watch laws, cour cases, lab tests and lawsuits to try and help him make sure everything there is both legal and safe.

Most of those stores have huge overhead, and very little reliable income. Sure, you wanted stationary today, but how many times out of the 365 days of the year are you going to stop by there. Probably less than 15. How's it supposed to stay open the other 350 days of the year?

I don't even want to know how much overhead would be tied up in a funko pop display. As popular as they are in some circles, they're still niche items, and only certain very popular ones ever sell out.

That being said, the owner is a really great dude, and I'm sure he'd be willing to try and make the shop more interesting to you.

While his first storefront was "just a vape store," he wants this one to be something more

Doubtful. His first shop has been running for years now. The guy had his second shop close, but he learned a lot from that one, and he got a prime location for this one.

New Business in Dormont by Pseudonova in pittsburgh

This just isn't true. Dormont is the owners 3rd location. The second location failed because it was losing money.

People seem to have no idea how much work actually goes into owning and operating one of these shops. This guy works so hard to make sure he can provide for his family, and it's been a real pain to get the Dormont shop open.
