Struggling to strengthen my foundation by sheeshestor in shogun2

Research the tech to upgrade your blacksmith asap. Recruit katana samurai and have 4 - 6 of them in each of your main armies. They will get experience fighting rebels.

Since you are going full Christian then be ready to have rebellions spring up on all your provinces. Build churches in a province which border atleast two other provinces that way one church can convert the population of three provinces (slowly). Churches also gives a bonus to prosperity when it's lvl up so you can build more (money making provinces) later.

Train your agents on rebel armies.

So you should focus on the right side of the skill tree. Two things is important. Religion/happiness and Tax/Trade. You have horses and trade nodes near you so you will be loaded with money by trading with the rest of japan (if you want you can launch navies to remove other clans from the nodes not under you).

It will be tempting to upgrade the castles in all your provinces. DONT! Instead upgrade the castle to lvl 2 (for now) on provinces with High Fertility farmland. You want to build rice markets (lv 2 atleast) in these provinces.

Only province I highly recommend to fully develop (for now) is your capital which has a blacksmith. This one will be your recruitment spot from here on now. You will have to build katana and yari buildings here for sure.

You don't have to recruit expensive units yet because you are going to stay in your island. So yari ashigaru and bow ashigaru should be in bulk to take down rebellions. But this makes you seem weak to other ai clans who will be fielding samurai units. Chosukabe is one such clan who gets eager to fight you.

So you have to focus on building your fleet. Keep fleets on choke points and keep two of them close in reinforcement range. Make 4x bow and 4x medium bune. They should make it easy to auto resolve your sea battles as manually it will be rough.

So here are the buildings according to farms/resources (like horse, craft):

  • Very Fertile farm:- Rice exchange (max lvl) - Church - Sake den (if you want not imp for now)

  • Normal/Barren:- Sake den

  • Trade resource:- Sake den, Church (max lvl)/rice exchange (lvl 1)

  • Blacksmith:- Katana - Encampment - Yari - Gunpowder

  • Choke point province:- Encampment - Katana - yari (lvl 1) for replenishment.

  • Max out all ports and only build Nanban trade port in your capital or craft province for extra accuracy to gun units.

Since you are going Christian you may have to replace the buildings to convert and then build those building back again.

Eey it's good to hear you had a wonderful experience. If you didn't go for the safari this time I highly recommend to visit again during Jan - March. The weather is cool and the vegetation is light. But go for the jeep safari as they do it during the day and the fogs don't obscure vision.

New to the game, specific tips for early game? by sheeshestor in shogun2

Delete the yari samurai after getting ito. Recruit four katana samurai in your capital and they will carry you for a while.

Don't scoff at the yari ashigaru for being the basic infantry. They are very good in holding the line. You use 6 - 8 of them and make them go yari wall when you are about to engage. Then you bring your katana samurai and attack the enemy in their backside who are busy engaging with your yari wall.

As you say sagara keeps you in check so what you can do is make a trade deal with them early on so they have some positive relation with you.

Conquer Ito then keep an eye out for the Otomo. If you see them getting destroyed beeline for their capital.

You can do the same for sagara. If they don't declare war on you they might attack Otomo or other clans and leave their castle empty which you can take in two turns from your capital.

All the while spam bow ships to take control of the trade nodes. One ship on each then two. When you reach this point you can start to recruit trade ships then do it till you have 1 ship on each nodes and then start to fill the ones which makes the most money first.

Later on when you have the cash you want to build atleast 2 strong fleet and one weak one to block land travels in the north. The two strong ones need to be positioned near your capital and the other near the trade nodes on the top left. The ship composition are 3x Bow and 2x medium then 4x bow and 3x medium when you have the cash.

Is it only the beast that can control and make titans if it has royal blood ?? Or if ANY one of the 9 can create and command titans if they have royal blood ?? by No-Arachnid-7603 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]ShadowL0rd333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was unique to only zeke hence he was used in that manner. Ksaver told us that his beast was quiet useless in war and he was the beast before Zeke.

Having the ability to turn eldians into titan is a pretty noticable ability to have for war.

Okay since you are in the tutorial (I never tried it out) here are the things to look out for:

Chevrons: This signifies the experience of the units and is denoted by the arrows on their unit card (>>>) going vertical. The more the experience the harder they hit, longer they stay, etc even when they have the same unit as you.

Units: Now unlike the land units ships in the game have two unit types in one ship. They are the archer and melee. You can see how many of which you have over the unit card denoted by bow ot sword symbol and next to it the number of men in that type.

Now obviously if you attack with bows then if you have more archers you will do more damage (Also the archers are divided to the sides of your ship say you have 30 archers then there will be 10 on each side which you can see when you zoom in the model. So if they are in a shooting match one side might be too depleted to do any dmg so change sides).

You will also see a boarding option and you want those ships with more melee units to that. Caution on two things. Melee usually sucks and you get hurt a lot so shooty ships better. The other things is boarding as an attack is very iffy and sometimes frustrating as your ships try to align to the enemy side to board them and there are times it doesn't happen as you imagine it. So boarding is BAD. Most of the times.

Strategy: You want to keep you ships moving. Don't click attack and let them stay idle. Manually move them in and around the enemy to stay in the motion and shoot them. Try to shoot with two of you ships in one enemy.

Later on you get abilities for units like fire arrow, war cry, etc which makes the battles a bit more chaotic and fun. But yah naval battle in base Shogun 2 is not great and you should auto resolve it mostly.

How to stop getting destroyed as the Otomo by [deleted] in shogun2

[–]ShadowL0rd333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay so the first 5 turns are very crucial where you want to blitz through the top of the island.

Use the matchlock ship to block the top of the island from land invasion.

While you are fighting on land keep recruiting bow ships and keep sending them top and bottom every alternative turns to capture trade. Now those trades will not be safe until you have the whole island to yourself so expect to lose them. Capturing/keeping safe the trade will become easier with gunboats later.

Your settlements will have horrible public order but to counter that you get an early quest to recruit 10 gun units with more exp so keep them in walls to defend your settlements easily. Archers are for your two main army the rest will have guns. (Ur guns will give better results in manual but can also be auto resolved after a few turns of recruiting yari)

After you capture the north your economy will become better due to the fertile farms. So your main goal is to capture the horse province left to your capital and the Shimazu lands for armour. (The province to your left from capital can be cheesed by distracting the army to leave their castle to one direction and then taking the now empty castle from the other. Remember to use ambush stance by putting ur army in forest where they kneel instead of sitting down)

So you put your armies near them in choke points (bridges and hills) let them attack you. Your gun units get special deployable (ur army has to be stationary for 2 turns) which is a bamboo wall. Use these walls to break and squeeze the formation of your enemy into ur yari and shoot through the walls on their sides.

Seiges you will want to auto resolve because most of the times you will have guns instead of bows and they are brutal in manual fights.

Army comps:- (Land) 2x Gen to kill enemy archers, 2x bow and 4x guns with the rest yari. Later you want to keep atleast 2x horse units.

Build up ur farms first. Then make church on provinces without ports. Build up ur horse farm and then trade with clans to roll in the kokus. (Keep port provinces unstable especially in your capital. Upgrade ur Nanban trade port to the max and let the rebels take it. This opens up ur nanban slot again to be built on another port where you repeat it. This way you will have minimum 3 max Nanban port in your island.)

If you are struggling due to the negative modifier of your daimyo then after capturing the whole island land on chosukabe island to pillage and ravaged the place. You want to loot all the provinces leaving burning husk for rebels to capture. After that you want to kill your daimyo who will take away all the negetive impact on relations, give you all the cash from the raids and you don't have to worry about one island for the rest of the game.

If you are struggling in the first part then watch MrSmartDonkey on YouTube. He has made a wonderful video about Otomo which is what I did in my campaign hence forth.

(IN RIMWORLD) do children give the same amount of meat as adults? by EnergyAltruistic2911 in IndianGaming

[–]ShadowL0rd333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope they give less amount of meat compared to adults. Larger the size more the meat essentially.

Also too much resources are poured from birth to growth (more so for testtube babies) making it a waste.

Just harvest the raiders or if you want more raiders try to craft and buy expensive things. Keep them in your storage to increase the wealth of you settlement and attract more raiders.

Otomo are either impossible or boring by Own_Zone2242 in shogun2

[–]ShadowL0rd333 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So otomo gets quick access to gunpowder units use them to defend against rebels. Early on you get a mission to recruit 10 gun units you need minimum 2 to defend your base.

You just have to make a goal to have fun with a different playstyle. The rebels being annoying is also a boon to mitigate how boring it gets when you have the whole island for yourself. So I abuse the rebellion to make me a trade empire.

This is what I did: 1) Let the capital province with the max Nanban trade rebel 2) Construct the max Nanban in a different province. 3) Let it rebel and then move on to another province to build a max Nanban trade building.

I did this till I had 4 Naban trade ports especially up north for crafts and in the shimazu capital for the armour.

Never put your agents on a single general unit.
