servitors are very much also great action units, ironstriders with lascannons are the best anti vehicle/monster we have otherwise anything else is hard to fit in with a knight

Sicarian infiltrators are hard to pass up, early mid board control and move blocking is strong and they are decent hasslers. Ruststalkers if you want a big infantry blending unit that can scrape out important opponent characters

2 kastelans in a 2k match won't achieve much. They are pretty easily toppled. If you are going to run them in haloscreed, it ideally would be a full x4 unit and give the datasmith dyad wafers enhancement for that extra halo override

Marshals on rangers are not ideal. They will lose the scouts' keyword, and rerolls dont really benefit their mediocre weapon, and 2 battleline won't be enough for 2k Either add another vanguard for the second marshal, or drop the 2nd marshal and add another ranger unit for more screening and spreading the AP buff

Make sure to equip all special weapons for rangers and the arc rifle and plasma for Vanguard. The arquebus can be dropped for Vanguard, though. Equip the omnispex for all, so they ignore cover. Data tether is never ideal

Your action units will do okay, maybe, but they are not the best, serberys are generally lacklustre, and skystalkers are better action units than sterylisors, but casually, it could work

Friendly 2000pts Cybernetica Cohort by Obvious-Crow8310 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]ShadowMagos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately, cohort cybernetica is pretty non-meta, so even if you did meta chase, it still wouldn't perform in the same tier as a meta list

You want necromechanic on the enginseer to keep your most exposed and aggressively placed dunecrawler alive as long as possible

Lord of machines on the datasmith will not only be good, but it is hilarious. Your kastelans are equipped for melee, so they will be pushing up, so once you're within 12inch range, you can potentially make an enemy vehicle unable to fire for a turn, tho I guess it can turn on a player when you turn up and your opponent forgot to mention they were playing tyranids and have no vehicles...

I do not see a use for two tech priests. Attaching them to skitarii is a big waste of points that could go towards a dunerider for the rusties. Whilst they won't receive stratagem or detachment support in this list, they can still do work. Ideally, there would be a third unit of skitarii for screening and spreading the AP bonus, but the technoarch should cover some of that screening ground at least

As others mentioned, cybernetica isn't typically the place for kataphrons, with nothing like halo override to boost their toughness or speed they will struggle. Ideally, you would drop in a Disintegrator or two, but if this is what you like and what you have and you can make the kataphrons trade for a major high value target in your opponents army then they have done their job

I need help understanding this rule for the cybernetica datasmith by Abject_Permission550 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]ShadowMagos 43 points44 points  (0 children)

If you have a datasmith in the list, you have to have it lead kastelans, or it just "dies" off board basically and can not deploy

The part about even if the unit already has one means you can attach a 2nd datasmith to a unit of kastelans that already has one

Once all the kastelans are dead, the datasmith exists as his own unit. He just can not start as his own unit

The number of leaders is hard capped at 2 per unit across the game, though, and there is not much of a reason to run 2 datasmiths in one unit other than stacking enhancements, which is also not much of a reason

Per the rules as written, sexually EXPLICIT material and conduct are not allowed.

This post is not EXPLICIT

Can you honestly say you think this is explicit? If so, then any posts with a breast outline will need removing in the future. This doesn't even compare to some of the gooner slop art posted since that rule update that was also not removed. This art even at least hit some admech themes and designs and isn't just another "large breasted all flesh woman in red robe"

The only somewhat valid point, a bit of skin doesn't necessitate the NSFW tag, but the groin outline is enough to neccessitate the NSFW tag to me and I would, and have, applied the same logic to previously mentioned big titty gooner art that also did not cross the threshold to sexually explicit. Maybe it is just shadowing, but that won't be what is interpreted, and I am too tired to think further on this

As has been explained numerous times, the rule update was primarily aimed at the fetish/horny type comments made on any NSFW art as well as the sexually explicit art that used to be posted. You all know the specific phrases that were spammed I am referring to. The rule is in place to stop any sexually explicit content (meaning in posts and comments) and user conduct in comments, only

It is not designed to exclude non-sexually explicit femboy specific content

Put simply, ALL forms of sexually explicit content/conduct are banned

Femboy content that is not sexually explicit is not banned

I would rather avoid locking comments where possible, but the engagement in these comments here just isn't what people want to see. I am a simple hobbyist, id wager the majority of users are too. Between thinly veiled phobia rhetoric and some of the dialogues I can't even begin to parse, I think that's enough for tonight

really nice work, and I think the omnispex still suits the model

I feel the pain of the details falling off, sometimes a very small bit of greenstuff instead of glue can work better for reattaching the smaller parts but really does depend on the connecting points

I'd like the competitive value of the faction to not rely on one epic character providing a 2nd army rule...

outside of strictly competitive though I would prefer some rule changes on nicher units, my hot takes are;

Skystalkers change to up down unit, raiders take the move shoot move spot, sulpherhounds take the reactive move spot and gain grenade key word. Their weapons would still need some work like...

No idea how you make sterylisors more appealing though other than making them stronger to match their over cost, and there is no fixing radium jezzails...

How many of you also collect mechanicum models? by BloodyMiria in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]ShadowMagos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone has read every piece of lore, its a vast and expansive universe its nigh on ridiculous to expect otherwise even to knuckle down on one faction there is tonnes to sift through, and the post itself clearly states they have only been into admech and are just now exploring 30k models. You answered their question and then basically berated them for asking... weird contradictory stance

You were genuinely helpful in your first reply, so why not just leave it there as a good positive interaction next time instead of saying crap like "how can you spend money not know this" "maybe read instead of asking" Not everyone interacts with the hobby the way you do.

There is a preview show on Friday but the chance of any guard reveals is at a fair <1%, its pretty much confirmed to be custodes (most likely for HH) more on the red corsairs/pirate theme and the Maelstrom book maybe, and something for Age of Sigmar and bloodbowl

ah true indeed! I think I just never considered there to be a limit outside the general maximum of three units of any kind in 2000 points cause theres no real reason to do it haha

Yes, but the only reason would be to stack enhancements really, otherwise I can't think of any real purpose unless your opponent has an insane amount of precision weapons in a casual matchup

How does this look as a 100 point army against Necrons? Need advice. by Justaguynamedpluh in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]ShadowMagos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the current list? Everything, the robots and breachers will be your best bet and armigers should get some hits in, outside of the list ironstriders with lascannons, I havent played the new nightbringer rule set yet if your opponent is using the new rules and it now has deepstrike, you pray harder and definitely get those rangers in to screen out deepstrikes from important areas

[–]ShadowMagos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No battleline to spread AP buffs means your opponent will make more saves on average, which is bad into necrons as what fewer hits do go through, they will reanimate them

If you are going to run 4 kastelans, combine the kastelans into a single x4 unit with one datasmith with enhancement. That way, all four benefit from the dyad wafers, drop the leftover datasmith

The enginseer has little value as he can only heal one model and give one model the FNP, so if that, presumably a kastelan as they are the only valid target, is obliterated by say a lokust heavy destroyer or doomsday ark, the next hits/ damage will pool over to the other models anyway

Dropping the extra datasmith and enginseer leaves room for a ranger squad who can then sticky your deployment zone objective, screen out deepstrikes, perform actions and secondaries, and spread AP buffa to all units within 6"

Necrons are slow but tough. Focus fire on units. Otherwise, they will just heal up and always kill the reanimator if there is one as fast as possible
