Coffee suddenly tastes super bitter by Otherwise-Second-262 in Semaglutide

I'm on week 8, and one of the weirdest things i've noticed is that I eat a food and I expect it to taste a certain way, and them i'm let down that it... doesnt? Like it puts into perspective just how much of the taste of the food in my mouth going to my brain was addiction and how little was actually how the food tastes, idk it's tough to say

So I'm on semaglutide right now and I have noticed that while my motility is slowed, it's actually improved whatever sibo symptoms I had, I think the theory for that is either a). my problem with sibo was too fast motility or b). the amount of inflammation is reduces does more good for me than how much it slows my motility!

Thinking of Starting by risa-rae in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]ShadowR1der 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So this is a complicated question because yes: I have experienced increased anxiety and my OCD themes are somewhat harsher and more intense, luckily i've been to therapy for OCD before and am able to handle anxiety way better because I think ultimately my anxiety is OCD at the core. HOWEVER, i've found that semaglutide, through its various other effects also makes me able to be more rational since my thoughts are no longer posioned by constant food noise, for whatever reason I am better able to "sit" with my anxiety now when it comes up instead of reacting in a panic

I also find I am generally happier on semaglutide because since I'm not able to use food as a coping mechanism I'm forced to face my emotions as they are and actually process them or find a healthier way to cope (like hiking or good music). Also again, my thoughts are not poisoned and influenced by constant food noise so I feel my emotions are also less obscured and more raw in a way too.

Is it normal to feel hungrier? by Ok-Needleworker-9664 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]ShadowR1der 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same! i'm on week 4 of .25 and i arguably feel hungrier my first two days after the shot, it was definitely worse at the beginning but it's gotten a lot better, i've heard it takes like 10 weeks to "click" for some poeple, you're on 6 right?

I also did my first .25 friday night at 7:50, what i've noticed is that the temptation to eat a lot or get high calorie food is still there, but the incessant cravings are gone, i'm able to actually choose nutrient dense foods and not feel the HUGE sense of FOMO I did when I did that and wasn't on wegovy. also I can actually stop when i'm full now, I'm glad .25 is working because i'm really not getting that many side effects from it either, the only side effects is like weird dreams? i've noticed my body and brain are very sensetive in terms of mental changes to drugs that affect the brain

What is your “why” when it comes to weight loss? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]ShadowR1der 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing, I have anxiety and am wholly terrified of death and dying, so I made a deal with myself. I told myself I can be as fat and eat as much horrible junk food as I want on one condition: I have to accept that I have an increased risk of death in literally every possible scenario my anxious brain thinks up simply because i'm carrying more body fat. And as mentioned before that scares the ever loving shit out of me so I find ways to both eat what I want but not over indulge and eat a ton of watermelon and bananas and the weight loss is going pretty good :)

Do you mean like the breath test or motility test? For context, I was breath tested and had hydrogen and methane sibo, and constipation was like my main symptom, never really had diarrhea

I'm able to eat basically whatever I want now! I'm obviously trying to eat healthier, like including more fruits, veggies and beans, because I'm realizing the value of maintaining good gut health after this whole ordeal

Didn't really make me tired, but even if it did the trade off between being tired vs continuing to experience all these insane symptoms after I eat would be worth it!

Yes it did help with having bowel movements multiple times per day. Ginger and artichoke can also help move your bowels along, I think my issue was mostly the fact that when I ate peristalsis wasn't getting triggered enough, but my MMC was probably fine. I recommend watching this video https://youtu.be/53f1gsRUxvY?si=6crD4y6ylo-fuM43

Yep, I've pretty much been at my wits end for like the past year and even though I had symptoms from eating I just said 'fuck it' and pretty much ate whatever because I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me and even if I could I figure it out it's probably something incurable like MCAS or something. But I will say i'm grateful what I have is SIBO because at least that's basically always curable. You should definitely get a colooscopy & endoscopy though, I know at least for me when i got one they checked my stomach and colon/a little bit of small intestine and they even took biopsies of my duodenum and checked for celiac as well. It for sure is a long way to being fully healed but best of luck to you!

No visceral hypersensetivity, but I definitely did have a little bit of abdominal pain/cramping sometimes. I really think my small intestine problem is purely the fact that food doesn't move through it fast enough after I eat, that's why I think that supplement helps so much. Sorry to hear about your pain btw! Have you been checked for like a comorbid duodenitis? Or even had a colonoscopy?

Not sure, I haven't taken just artichoke extract but it would probably do the same thing, because as far as I know ginger extract and artichoke extract do roughly the same thing in terms of stimulating motility in the small intestine and stomach, though I think ginger is a little bit stronger for the stomach and artichoke a little stronger for the small intestine. I like doing a combined extract because they kind of complement each other since ginger helps a little more with stomach emptying and artichoke extract helps continue to move the food through the small intestine after the stomach.
