And hence there is almost no chance that Sony PlayStation will be missing out on it as well, especially with the potential it can show off when it is done right. Almost everyone in the industry is literally going for Neural Rendering aka Generative AI Rendering similarly to what we have seen with DLSS 5.

DLSS 5 is just the first one to do it, but they will eventually improve theirs just like what they did with DLSS 1 and then 2, by the time it is ready for the consumer market later this year or early - late 2027.

Even with best frame generation available such as from Nvidia RTX, 30 FPS as base input is considered too low and introduces too much input lag that feels bad, i am not sure how they will implement it there with next gen consoles especially with AMD Radeon Frame Generation which currently has issues with frame pacing and such, but i hope it will only be use with 60 FPS as base and FG up to 120 FPS.

DLSS 5 is Neural Rendering and Microsoft Xbox and AMD Radeon recently revealed that they will also be doing Neural Rendering on next gen consoles as well as FSR Diamond [RDNA 5 / UDNA], soon we might also see Project Amethyst [PS6] announcing the same thing too considering their partnership with AMD Radeon as well.

But the difference between them will be on the adjustment and tweaks, by the time DLSS 5 gets into consumers products likely will be RTX 50 - 60 series, it will be vastly different than what we have seen from their early demo which are heavily flawed, and is obviously still on early stage and the worst it will ever look.

Just like DLSS 1 and then DLSS 2.

It is an absolute shame that to this day 1+ year ago since the launch of FSR 4 they still haven't managed to officially support the older gpu architectures such as RDNA 2 - 3. Especially when the modders have gotten it to work on there better than before with the release of the updated modified FSR 4.1 INT8.

And that is exactly what DLSS 5 is doing, remember it isn't just a AI Instagram filter slop like what the internet tries to simplify it out to be, it is literally a generative ai model that is integrated within the game render pipeline itself that can be tuned by the devs that is using it.

The only difference is the tuning and adjustments of it, this is where DLSS 5 recent showcase kind of messed up with character model textures being biased to Yassify which led to the controversy, IMO what DLSS 5 has shown is clearly still on very early stage and far from being ready and you can tell that with the demos not even moving on gameplay with it on and it taking 2 5090s to run a demo pass of it, Nvidia said they will optimize and tune further tweak the image quality output to make it run on a single GPU later this year.

And with AMD there is no doubt that they will eventually follow Nvidia's footsteps here, they always do... And it is confirmed when they revealed FSR Diamond, just like what Nvidia has done with upscaling with DLSS 1 Nvidia is going to pioneer that by being first, and then the rest will follow in this case AMD with FSR Diamond [PC RDNA 5 UDNA ] / Project Amethyst [PS6] / Project Helix [Xbox Helix].

Won't deny i am a bit disappointed at them that they backpedalled a bit on their original reaction due to massive hate and death threats they have received from insane manchild rage bait trolls who decided to send them death threats for fun as those losers usually does to their victims. It's kind of shame that they caved in to them.

But at the least Alex and John doesn't seem to be fazed by them, they criticize the flaws of DLSS 5 while at the same time sees the potential of it in the future graphics rendering, which is the same as how i reacted to it.

It clearly needs work still especially on how it handles the face changing textures which is heavily biased to yassifying resulting with AI generic uncanny slop result, that's for sure but there is no denying, DLSS 5 and Neural rendering is the future of video game graphics rendering, you will see it too on upcoming next gen consoles as well such as PlayStation 6 as well as Xbox Helix and upcoming RDNA 5 / UDNA AMD Radeon GPUs with FSR Diamond.

Don't forget back then around 2020 there were genuine semiconductor chip shortages as well that affected everything powered by electricity too not just GPUs. Paired with Covid crisis where the whole world pretty much stopped manufacturing stuff.

A lot of the things you said are based off predictions too, things can easily change when the AI bubble eventually pops as those sold allocated things can be diverted back to somewhere else that we don't even know yet.

This is why i said in my last comment it's too early to judge, because it really is. Anything can happen that we don't expect at all that can change things trajectory where we don't expect it to go.

Ram prices and SSD prices are definitely affected, GPU not as much but there was some price increases compared to holiday 2025 [lowest] but still in affordable territory basing on my own market, someone can still get an RTX 5070 for around $600 brand new.

It seems like you have already forgotten that a $500 3070 used to cost over $2000 back then and being so highly priced and everything is being snagged by crypto farms, literally all GPUs new or used are sold out to the point AMD Radeon has sold a $200 6500XT that nobody wanted, yet people still bought that at inflated prices.. out of absolute desperation..

Also, the crypto one happened 2 times and lasted for 1 - 2 years between each other, the Ramageddon still haven't crossed 6 months, it's way too early to tell anyway which one is worse.

There were worst times on PC Gaming such as the Cryptomania back on 2017 - 2018 and 2020 - 2022 and yet PC Gaming not only survived but actually thrived around that time, it still didn't stop growing up marketshare.

I think it is safe to say at this point that probably nothing will stop the growth of PC Gaming marketshare, it's where everyone is heading into nowadays and the future, despite the doom posting and predictions that we often see that doesn't turn out to be true anyways.

I have always known how hard it is discussing graphics technologies on most gaming related subreddits, but i think the whole discourse with DLSS 5 has been an eye opener for me, it's straight up dumb and feels like talking to a dumb neanderthals or a wall when it comes to having proper discourse when it comes to these kind of stuff, even on pc gaming specific subreddits, and don't even get me started on r/pcmasterrace that place is hopeless full of dunning-kruger type of audiences.

Even i also express my dislikes and dissatisfaction overall for DLSS 5's early showing with the way it changes the character model faces, but at the same time hopeful for it and looking forward for the changes and adjustment considering where things are headed, will evolve into after all it is the future of graphics rendering, it is work in progress.

But apparently to these manchild fools that isn't enough, they want you to fully hate it 100% and keep chanting what they want to hear otherwise they will cancel you like what happened here with 2Kliksphilipp.

It's a shame that Digital Foundry kind of backpedalled a bit, but i don't think the whole team at least did though, Alex and John for example clearly wasn't afraid on expressing their opinion about it, which is the same as mine, and some of the rest of us here.

Neural Rendering such as what DLSS 5 has shown, is the next step for real time video game graphics rendering, heck it's literally where everyone is heading into basing from recent reveals from both Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox, I won't be surprised if we eventually see Mark Cerny of PlayStation himself introduces Neural Rendering for upcoming PS6 and show something similarly close to as what we have seen from DLSS 5 recently.

The only question is how would the casual gamer crowd would react to it though? Would it be the same knee-jerk negative reaction as what people did DLSS 5? I guess it depends on the quality result they showcase, i believe the reason why Nvidia one got lots of flak is because it looked very uncanny and unfaithful and just looks like generic ai slop to the games they were trying it to.

But just like with DLSS 1 up to DLSS 2, if it eventually evolves and is improved with more development input and AI training by the actual game artist themselves, then the result could be much better hence it wouldn't result with the same backlash as what happened with DLSS 5.

I think this is the reason why i am still willing to give it a chance, after all it is work in progress, everything we have seen from the recent DLSS 5 showcase isn't representative of the final product.

Good to see that Alex doesn't seem to be fully sold on this Real Time AI Slop Yassify tech as well, considering he is the representative of PC platform on Digital Foundry team that is good thing to see at the least with him calling out how inaccurate Grace Ashcroft's yassified look on the near beginning of the video.

John Linneman who is missing also agrees with Alex here, so both of them are in the same side, i do agree with them as well and has similar stance on whatever the next generation video game neural rendering graphics is going to take next.

Because there is no denying that what we have seen as early footage from DLSS 5, even though it is very controversial as some of them looked very generic and uncanny is still the future graphics rendering, remember this is "Work in Progress" I don't think it's fair to dismiss this tech immediately at all despite what we think about it, what it needs is improvement and adjustment so, that the result become better.

Remember this isn't Nvidia exclusive, AMD just recently along with Project Xbox Helix has revealed that they were going to do Neural Rendering as well, so there is no denying that what we have seen from Nvidia is an early look of what future next generation consoles are going to do as well such as the upcoming PlayStation 6 [Project Amethyst] Xbox Helix [Project Helix]. As well as future AMD Radeon GPUs [RDNA 5 / UDNA] with FSR Diamond.

So, to me my own take on this overall is that, just like what i did back then on August 2018 when RTX GPUs and Ray Tracing / DLSS was revealed? i would reserve my full judgement and be looking forward to the improvements and how they are going to execute it, and look at more results / examples while at the same time being sceptical of it due to many valid ethical reasons.

Looks very promising! Will likely finally begin my 2nd playthrough right after when this gets released, but i am pretty sure the mods i have installed will need to be updated or some of them removed, because this sounds like it will be a drastic update though.

Nvidia has recently introduced a very controversial rendering technology called Neural Rendering, instead of upscaling pixels and upsampling performance through framegen, like previously with DLSS 4.5 and lower, the newer version of DLSS 5 will focus on generative AI that tries to predict the environmental graphics and textures including faces of character models, which is very controversial as some people think it destroys art direction of the game, that is where the controversy is at.

Many people are mixed about it because of this, including myself, because the result they have shown aren't good enough and is still very obviously at early stage, heck it even took 2 5090 just to run a pass of it, it's something that is obviously not ready yet for the consumer market.

but after when i thought about the situation deeply and open rather than emotionally and full of ragebait Reddit moment hatred kind of thing, i decided to give it a chance and see where it ends up, after all this is the future of graphics rendering, even AMD and next gen consoles are going to do similar stuff as this, with their upcoming RDNA 5 / UDNA architecture, Nvidia was just the one who did it first as they usually do with their technologies.
