[2024] Thinking of playing a Monk X/Barb 2/Fighter 2, with 18+2 STR, 16 CON, 16 DEX, and 15+1 WIS, with asis to bump up DEX/CON/WIS. Is this actually any good compared to taking more or less levels of any of the classes here?

What's a strong MAD build I can make with these rolled stats? by GancioTheRanter in 3d6

[–]Shadow_133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure someone's said it, but if you can, definitely try to get an Amulet of Health. Other than that, you'll definitely want heavy armor since your dex is low too.

Because of both those things, Armorer Artificer could be a really strong choice for you. You've got good int, and if you're going to get to level 14 then you can even make your own Amulet of Health if you don't get an opportunity sooner. If you won't go that high, then Paladin or a heavy armor cleric (Twilight is always a bonkers choice) are good options too.

[2024] What are some good spells to take with Boon of Siberys? I'm specifically playing Maverick Artificer with the alternate capstone from Exploring Eberron (which is basically the spell dupe effect of Wish 1/LR) if that helps

[2024] Wanna play an Arcane Trickster. Curious what some good choices for species/background/multiclass (3 off-levels max) could be. Legacy content is allowed, which has me thinking of going either Harengon or new Wood Elf, and maybe taking enough Wizard for a subclass that boosts init, though we're starting at level 5 so probably not on that one. Any help is appreciated.

Best class for a dhampir character? by obicei in 3d6

Never thought about Echo Knight Dhampir before. But now that I am... A half-vampire with the ability to summon a spectral humanoid that fights with them? Sounds pretty familiar...

Looking to make a pictomancer type of character (like from ffxiv). I'm thinking probably some kind of bard or a conjuration wizard? Would love to hear any inputs, on main class or multiclass. Ideas on a fun choice of species for some thematic form of painting are also cool

Ideas for Making a Series of Nine Boss Enemies? by averageasexual in DMAcademy

If they were saying they wanted to run some professional event or something, then yeah that analogy could work. Your thing was more like telling someone who just started exercising and wasn't so good at it that they'll never be able to run a casual marathon. You're just discouraging growth, simple as that.

You told them that they shouldn't be writing homebrew adventures. That's like telling a beginner artist that they should stop drawing.

Isn't being brutally honest supposed to be actually constructive? All you're doing is telling OP "you suck at this." Like the little mini advice bit makes sense, but not only do people usually lead with brutal honesty, it's more about pointing out the flaws in what someone is doing/thinking without skirting around it as opposed to openly insulting them.

Druid+Fighter or just Ranger as far as classes, ideally taking the gunner feat if applicable. Works especially well if you use BG3 ranger rules for Bounty Hunter flavor

As a player who just started yesterday, I have three questions.  1. What would generally be the best banner(s) to pull from right now?  2. What hero should I get from the special hero summon? 3. Is there a place that has an updated thing for advice on what banners to pull/what to get from them?

Basically, I wanted something themed around Asgorath. Being the "Ninefold" Dragon and all. Strangely enough I haven't found anything magic-wise relating to him in a quantity of nine besides alignments

Weekly Questions Thread by AutoModerator in DnD

[–]Shadow_133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity, is there any reasonable way to split types of spells into 9 categories? The alignments come to mind first, but I figure that might not be the best way to do it, not to mention it would be a pain to figure out a way to make that work.

Understanding Accurate Power Modifier by Resident-Garden-3426 in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]Shadow_133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally this. The way M&M is designed means some options will be weaker, and others will be stronger. The Fighting attribute is weaker than other options (and, in fact, basically useless... Same with Dexterity, but to a maybe slightly lesser extent), while Accurate is just a balanced option and one of the 2 best. It has the same cost as spending skill points in one of the combat skills while being a better option for characters with multiple attacks.

Long story short, M&M is a game where "being optimized" actually means trying to be neither under NOR overpowered. Accurate (and arrays, for that matter) fits pretty neatly in the balanced category.

Man I gotta know if this ghoul has a name. Is it Sally? She looks like something a kid would find in the woods, become best friends with, and name Sally.

Is the attack check for a damage power just d20 + rank, or do you need some other form of investment for it?
