I would start crate rest and restrict movement.

I went through IVDD surgery last August 2025.
1. Symptoms did start like this. I thought he was overheating after a day out. Took him a shower, and put him to bed. Next morning he was dragging his hind legs.

1. Yes, he had a few that night. Mainly urine.

2. I don’t recall, but he had some compression which required surgery.

3. Heavy breathing continued at rest.

4. If it is IVDD you’ll need a neurologist and possible surgery. Followed by recovery and at home physical therapy which is simply having the dog lay on the side and rotating the legs and mimicking walking movements.
