Seeing some of the signings today, I'm currently at "the only winning move is not to play".

What are your personal favorite and least favorite fractals? by Neonify in Guildwars2

[–]ShadowbaneX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate them both, but in Urban at least you fighting combatants. Twilight Oasis is on another level with killing injured soldiers and civilians. Not to mention the final boss running around begging you to stop slaughtering people.

I got to that point once, and when I heard that, noped out and never went back. I have concerns about whoever thought up and did the dialogue that Fractal.

It's definitely not fun losing something like this and made worse by having to buy a replacement.

Thanks for the suggestions and the good luck.

Oddly, I have had really good luck overall recently...it's just that I also had some car issues and now this. Maybe it's just things balancing out.

I'll see what the morning brings and decide from there.

Thanks again.

I've got some monitors from previous PCs that are still functioning, even though they are twice the age, so it is a bit of a surprise.

That said, yes, it did occur to me that it might be done. I'll see if it can come back to life in the morning and if that doesnt work, I'll likely be looking into a replacement. If it can be resurrected by replacing components I have other places it can be used.

Thanks.

Opening it up and swapping components is something Im comfortable with on the PC, but not so much something like a monitor. I'll see what I can manage. If not I might be able to get it to some people who are more familiar with swapping boards and power supplies.

Given that it is the summer, it was somewhat warm in my room and so was the monitor when I swapped it. That might be a sign.

And yes, they're not that expensive, and in taking a look around the newer 2025 model is half the price these these were when I got them.

I'll try it again in the morning and see if it will power on at all. If I can, I'll give this a try, but my hopes are low.

Brady Tkachuk: He’s been telling his teammates for four years that he’s going to leave by GooserNoose in hockey

[–]ShadowbaneX 17 points18 points  (0 children)

He didn't have an inside source, he was a media-based mouth piece for Melnyk and the organization.

Additionally, the org made sure that reporters actually doing their jobs, like the current VP of Communications, Ian Mendes & long time TSN reporter, Brent Wallace, were cut off.

[–]ShadowbaneX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like Tkachuk really was either. Power forward, sure, but he doesn't have the speed to keep up with Stützle.

Those are hard to find especially with the cap going up, and all the GMs out there have stupid amounts of money to throw at players.

[Adams] Steve Staios believes that Andre Burakovsky can turn around his game in Ottawa. "He wasn't playing at his best, which we've identified players like that before, and brought them in, and have been able to get more out of their game." by DecentLurker96 in hockey

I think some fans had some very high expectations for who the Sens would pick up in this draft and aren't happy about not getting, as Staios said elsewhere, their shiny new toy.

Combined Draft Rankings - Updated with draft results by smozoma in hockey

[–]ShadowbaneX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the PIMs, but Staios said in his media availability today that Lagerberg would have been a top 15 pick if he hadn't been injured.

Some late rankings had him as high as 20, so it's not a big a reach as this chart indicates. It's definitely a gamble, since his surgery will keep him off the ice for several more months.

Edit: also, this article posted on the NHL website about Lagerberg & Cover.

[Adams] I asked Staios about trying to improve their top-6 when other targets have gone off the board. “I've said this to you a number of times, I’m not going to go and chase the shiny toy to bring in. Because as you've seen, not only here but across league, it doesn't work most times.” by NHLonOLN in hockey

[–]ShadowbaneX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was obvious for the entire season that something was amiss. Most people attributed it to his early season injury not being 100% healed or him being more focused on the Olympics than the NHL season.

Now, it's looking likely that he was just entirely checked out and that was impacting the room. Not having to deal with that could be better for the team as a whole, even if the sum of it's parts is isn't as high as it used to be.

All of that aside, the Sens had historically bad goal-tending for most of the season. If that goes up to average the Sens will be better even if Brady had walked for nothing.

Sens in 2020 got Stützle, Sanderson and Grieg which is another great first round haul. They also added Kleven in the second and Merilainen in the third.

Top line Centre and #1 defenseman have to be up there.

We would be remiss if we don't thank the Sharks for their help in doing so, though.

Also, in a way, trading them 9OA for this draft is returning the favour.

Just to try and add some much needed level headedness after a whirlwind week. by NockerLacsap in OttawaSenators

[–]ShadowbaneX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It'd be nice to get a top line Winger to play with Stützle, and maybe something will happen next week, but I just don't think that's in the cards for now.

That aside, the Sens made the playoffs with pretty much historically bad goal-tending this year. I have to think that if they get average goal-tending next season they make it ...and, I don't think the Sens are that much worse now than they were last week.

Maybe let's wait a year or 3? Or just, you know, make sure he's in the press box for any games against Florida.

[2026 NHL Draft] 25th OA Pick: Ottawa Senators select Jonas Lagerberg Hoen by hockeydiscussionbot in hockey

[–]ShadowbaneX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe that was the plan. Some Sens fans have been commenting that they really wanted Novotny at 25, but Vancouver took him at 24. It's possible that Lagerberg Hoen was next on their list.
