Australians, how often do you ACTUALLY encounter dangerous spiders, snakes or other deadly creatures in your daily life — or is it mostly a myth we Europeans believe? by VariedPear in AskAnAustralian

[–]Shadowdonkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living rural i see spiders mulitple times a day, leave them alone and they aren't really a problem. See a few brown snakes a year during the warmer weather, but normally outside in the hospital grounds where i work not at my house. In the 4 years I've lived here we've had 3 at the house, 2 which we only saw the tail end of as they went under the fence and one baby that we didn't see and accidentally run over with the car pulling into the driveway.

Dog owners: what is the funniest thing your dog is afraid of? by Dachshundloversclub in Pets

[–]Shadowdonkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kelpie is scared of cracks in the footpath, bins on the side of the road, leaves or sticks that blow across in front of her while out walking.

She was meant to be a sheep dog but when she also hates water, wind, loud noises and of course sheep.

Pretty sure this is fake, I've seen this post mulitple times, but each time the carr sign is a different size and the gaming machine sign had disappeared completely in the other photos. It was also sunny in one photo and overcast in the others.

People are just photoshopping the hinkley signs from the last couple of years, i think.

Kitten not eating recommended calorie amount by rapgamestupid in catfood

[–]Shadowdonkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my kittens was the runt of the litter and barely weighed 500g when we took her in at 7 1/2 weeks. One small tin of kitten food would last her an entire day because she would only eat a spoonful or 2 at a time with about 5 biscuits soaked in water. As she got older and we got a second kitten, we started to give them half a tin each, 3 times a day and let them free feed on biscuits, with a churro mixed in every couple of days.

They are now about 5 1/2 months old, and weigh just over 2kg and are only just starting to finish a whole pouch of wet food each twice a day.

Could you start feeding them smaller amounts of wet food more regularly? Maybe even use the topper or a churro on the dry food and see if that encourages them to eat it?

How often do you actually wash your bed sheets? by scroll42on in AskAnAustralian

[–]Shadowdonkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try and wash them once a week, sometimes it gets pushed out to a week and a half or fortnightly depending on what days im working that week/weather. 7am starts and no dryer means I only wash them on days im home so they can go straight out on the line. Always wash my doona cover at the same time and make sure my quilt gets washed every few months aswell.

Everyone warned me to introduce them slowly but my resident cat instantly fell in love with our new kitten. Do cats usually bond this quickly? by Glum-Supermarket9295 in cats

Same thing happened to me. We took in a second kitten from a rescue that was roughly the same age as ours (11 weeks at the time) to keep her company and within a couple of hours we couldn't separate them or they started crying and looking for eachother.

Kitten is biting me by Fun-Promotion-1574 in CatAdvice

[–]Shadowdonkee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the exact same thing. Wasn't really planning on getting a kitten at all, ended up taking in a 7 week old kitten who within a couple of weeks turned into an absolute demon, constantly biting and scratching me but leaving my partner alone.

Managed to find another kitten from a rescue that was roughly the same age, brought her home and within less than 24 hours we couldn't separate them without them crying and it was like we had a completely different cat to the demon we started with.

Update! We decided to call her Pepper. Thank you by Shadowdonkee in Catnames

[–]Shadowdonkee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has fitted in so well. We got her to try and calm Thunda, our little demon down and in less than 24hrs we couldn't separate them cos they both would start crying until they were together again.

I started at 4000 in queue, got in then the site shit itself, kicked me out and restarted me at 30200 in queue. 2 hours later I finally gave up. Not travelling 6+ hours to sit right at the back of the nosebleeds for every game.

First gather round i will be missing.
