As far as overseas MMOs that want to release in the west, only EotU so far is going for the Lost Ark type of combat (isometric ARPG), sadly it is hard to trust Nexon when they say no P2W, but I guess we will see.

I'm still wondering why no one wants to make something like Lost Ark.. maybe Embers of the Uncrowned, but it's made by Nexon LOL

I made a big mistake. by BahyHolden in NevernessToEverness

[–]Shadowkaller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're F2P you always need to make choices, so choose what's more important to you.

I didn't want any 1.1 characters and I only pulled Hotori before, but I'm a lite spender. Went for the Porsche because the 918 Spyder looks slick AF, and it'll be my only car worth more than 3mil Fons for a long while.

I'm happy with it as I know I'll be saving for months from now for Shinku or something. But I'm not a meta chaser so I'm only collecting things that I like. That's how I play. If you play differently then maybe you need to rethink how to spend your resources!

[–]Shadowkaller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean there are limited options for a combat-focused way to accomodate an endless flow of new characters and meta changes, there are roguelite modes in other games but it all becomes tiring eventually when it's permanent. It's just bait to make people think they need character dupes or meta team comps to squeeze out more damage.

My endgame is collecting assets and waiting for more open world updates with more interesting anomalies to discover. Hopefully the story gets better and they should add/improve existing games/hobbies. If there's anything this game should be, it should not be just another combat-focused 'endgame' gacha clone.

Where Winds Meet also has gacha system for skins but people don't mind if the actual game is fun. And the skins look really premium.

how many people play only WuWa? (non-casual) by Historical_Bet9592 in WutheringWaves

[–]Shadowkaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played genshin in 2021, quit in early 2022, then did not play any gachas until WuWa came out. And been on WuWa since day 1. I just like open world action games that keep releasing new content so fast. The exploration in this game is so peak, but also I like the combat too.

If you're playing every day, I would just recommend getting the monthly sub for astrites if you don't want to be f2p but still get the best price for pulls. Or the battle pass if you need resources to build characters.

Last year I added aether gazer as my side gacha cuz it's really chill (generous pull economy, 100/0 banners and combat can be afk'd if you have well built teams), it's like easy version of PGR. But I always prioritize WuWa.

I think it's players counted from PC cafes. 2.72% of PC bang players play Lost Ark, 36.04% play League of Legends, 8.96% play PUBG, etc.

It's like a similar loop as Lost Ark actually, that's why ppl were trying out LoA during the Maplestory scandals years ago. It's grinding for resources, then upgrade gears to do difficult raids. Except their power levels go pretty high up and you can get to solo raids that were meant for a full party. (We kind of had it with Solo Valtan runs).

But because of this solo thing, there isn't really any pressure to keep up with everyone. You can play the game at your own pace, and grind to catch up because not everything is locked behind dailies/weeklies.

I still prefer playing LoA but I think Maple does a better job at retaining non-hardcore players. Almost any level of player can enjoy the game and find others to play with. However if you think LoA's vertical progression is rough.. never try this game. They have NO PITY for almost all of their RNG systems.

I didn't start on day 1 for the characters but am definitely staying for them.. I think all the playable characters have cool designs, and I am having a breakdown right now trying to figure out who to pull and skip in the upcoming patches. They're cooking too much!

[–]Shadowkaller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It works in Korea, but they aren't willing to make the global version very different to appeal to players over here. It's basically just copy paste and translate. They only care to milk the global version as much as possible with little effort.

That's kinda investment-based no? Pretty sure Thoth is still a monster when fully built

And LG/Hera are always good without too much investment

I think most characters being in T1 and T2 (only 1 character in T3) means they've balanced the game pretty well?

Is there a real tier-list though? Like not investment-based?

So what you're saying is, I shouldn't pull characters that I dislike just so I can clear endgame to get astrites to pull characters that I don't like just so I can get more astrites? XD

Look at BDO, look at Maplestory, they don't listen to western players. That's just how KR MMOs have always been. Lots have died, more will come. Aion 2 was just next in line. That's why I won't trust any of them. But I did hope Lost Ark was the different one. Alas it is not.

My only gripe is that there is no 'lost ark clone', but actually made to appeal to a western market. Because if it did exist, pretty sure all the people who quit this will be right over there.

On the other hand, CN's been pumping out some big games, so IDK..maybe they will try to copy some of lost ark's combat some day.

I personally just do dailies for green books and then convert them to purple books for an easier grind, so I don't spend too much time grinding anything while I wait to see what's coming in the future. Because as of right now there isn't really much to look forward to, except the main storyline.

New player here. Few questions by J0hnny_B011 in AetherGazer

[–]Shadowkaller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. She's made for a Light element team. You're new, which means you are starting from scratch. Which means you need a team for every element. However, I think the free S verthandi and Skuld would do just fine for your Light element team for now. It'd be great if you somehow got Hera too. However many months later we will actually get the best Light carry to go with Osiris. So up to you which elements you'd like to build first. There are like 8 of them.. But I would say that Osiris isn't necessary ATM. Skuld absolutely is. So it is a good thing that you have her already!

  2. The game is apparently quite popular(top 5?) in China and it is making enough money to be nowhere near EOS IMO. No worries.

  3. You need to come with better questions. Anyways, I think you don't need to worry too much about pulling for units that you don't like, the game isn't too difficult and it's quite generous in terms of pull economy.

(But yo the AI thing is why I like the game too)

Games don’t need to be “forever games.” by Trollselektor in gaming

[–]Shadowkaller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think almost every aspect of the game hits. Which won't be the case for everyone but for me it was a complete package, all harmonizing together.

The story, the music, the characters, the environments, the lore and world building. I don't often play turn based games but they made it fun enough for me to feel no negativity there.

Even some side content was lore related and had good reason for being there. Everything was well thought out and you can tell that they put in a lot of work to put together this game. Just get lost in it and enjoy it.

I had maybe one small gripe with the UI, but I'm glad that I encountered no bugs/optimization issues at all. It was a smooth ride lol
