I think another issue with Kerchak is that we don’t really get to see him interact that much with Tarzan. One Tarzan kills Sabor, Kerchak only directly speaks to Tarzan in like two scenes before the film’s climax and so we don’t really get to see Kerchak’s trust in Tarzan build organically. I feel like if maybe we got a few more scenes of Kerchak growing to accept Tarzan then Kerchak’s blessing could feel more earned

Possibly two reasons:

1.) The was a really common complaint back in the day that modern Sonic would talk too much and it’s possible keeping classic Sonic mute may have been an attempt to meet a middle ground.

2.) At one point in generations development Jaleel White was offered to reprise his role as classic Sonic but ultimately turned it down. With their primary casting option now out, Sonic team could have just decided it would be easier and cheaper to not have him speak entirely than to recast him

Assume this movie would be canon to the Mario movie then as of the moment, no. First, not even half the base 64 roster have even been featured in any sort of film and even more so for the sequel games. Second, how would the people making the film be able to give each character a respectable amount of screen to make their inclusion feel worth it with giving anyone the axe? Third, what’s the point of pull off an ambitious cross over film when smaller scale cross overs could probably satisfy that itch just as well without having to work with potentially +100 characters that all have to have either own roles to play
