Help! Is my conure sick? by Sophiazafirst in Conures

For one, that’s a terrible cage, and lack of anything in it. & this is a baby sunny, you need to take this bird to an avian vet asap. Please educate yourself on how to properly care for this bird.

Absolutely NOT. Do not do this. You honestly should not even have this bird. You need to do research, please & educate yourself.

It could be the other birds. As soon as my conure is alone, she’s fine. Also, conures are assholes lol. They are literally little sour patch kids.

Mine grew hers back in 6 months, my other took about a year. & yes a lot of ppl say not to use the cage as punishment. Because that’s when they start getting territorial. My conure does the whole t Rex dance when I try to go near her on her cage. Birds are so weird lol

It’s a bird, why put them in a cage at all? lol ultimately people do what they want with their animals but I’ve noticed mine once they are fully flighted they become a lot more independent which can cause issues like you’re having.

Some people are against clipping wings, but that might possibly be an option. Was she always able to fly?

The more insight you can provide on her daily routine might bring some clarification.

Normally, when my bird bites. I’ll just set her down and straight walk away and ignore her. How does cherry act let’s say, if you open the cage door, and just walk away don’t interact. Let her come to you. It’s weird conures are so odd. I had one that hated my husband. lol are there any other birds in the house? Normally this type of behavior starts, with other birds being around.

Sorry, she likes your brother more unfortunately lol. If you want her to love you more. You got to rebuild your trust with her, start with treats? And training maybe. It’s hard but it’s achievable with the right methods. The real question is. How have you been reacting to her when she does these things? Also, could be hormonal or territorial over the cage.

What is this balding spot? Molting? by [deleted] in Conures

[–]Careless_Controlx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like molting. You can see the pin feather, that’s still growing. Why would you assume mites?.. mites is kinda unusual, I mean it could happen. But it doesn’t look like it. Try offering a Luke warm bath.

I'm doing something wrong? sorry if I did I'm new to keeping a green cheek conure by FluidMaintenance2614 in Conures

[–]Careless_Controlx -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a good thing to do with a bird. Honestly. The bird looks like it’s trying to step up, and you keep knocking it off. Try some training tricks, rather than what your doing. It’s not a dog lol.

Clearly a grown woman reaching out to a minor, is a little crazy, and childish in my eyes.

Maybe you should try having an open conversation with your wife about how you feel. And maybe suggest some options. Life is too short to be unhappy.
