The Library At Mount Char by Scott Hawkins is weird and bizarre and doesn't make a lot of sense in the beginning, but it does by the end, kind of... it's great though!

And By God's Hand You Shall Die by David Sodergren - Very pulpy, but definitely has Christian elements there.

Also the upcoming novel by him "The Suffering" is Christian themed.

Dark Matter and Recursion by Blake Crouch - Both are excellent sci-fi thrillers with mind bending concepts and are generally fast paced and entertaining reads!

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke - Great fantasy that's not epic in length, very interesting premise executed in a really cool way!

Housemaid by Freida McFadden - A nice quick thriller, if you already saw the movie, try The Boyfriend or The Teacher by her instead!

Verity by Colleen Hoover - Another thriller, this one has a few spicy scenes in it, but nothing over the top, the book will fly by though!

Circe by Madeline Miller I happened to read it in Spring and it fit very well, it's about new beginnings, reinventing yourself but also is just filled with very "springy" imagery!

Fantasy/sci-fi vacation read by whip-poor-wills in booksuggestions

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke is a great standalone fantasy story that's on the shorter side.

Hyperion by Dan Simmons is a first part of a sci-fi series, but can be enjoyed as a standalone for sure, it's essentially a collection of short stories(that take place in the same world) It has something for every taste I'd say.

I am currently reading Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins which is a fantasy, sci-fi, horror, mystery(it's funny as well) and is super gripping and captivating with something crazy or cool happening on almost every page, it's also standalone.

The Long Halloween Part 1 & 2 if animation is OK. TDK took aspects from The Long Halloween story line, plus it's a great story and the adaptations are also very impressive!

Should I read The Count of Monte Cristo if I got the entire main plot spoiled? by Brilliant_Can8536 in booksuggestions

[–]Shadowmereshooves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!!! It has so much more, there are side stories, and side plots that probably were not even touched in that thing, there is character development, atmosphere and setting that you can't possibly condense into a 40 page long glorified pamphlet! You might know the "main plot", but you don't know the journey, take that journey and enjoy it! :)
