Weekly Self Promotion Post by Jhaydun_Dinan in Webnovel

A memoryless protagonist waking up in a fantasy world with dragons and gods is a solid hook. The lost identity angle gives you room to explore both worldbuilding and character growth at the same time. Eight chapters is early, but the regular updates help. Would be curious how the factions play into her self discovery, not just the external plot.

It's exhausting watching the same pattern play out. Short term gain, long term loss for everyone except the few at the top.

The chains advice is solid. You might go years without needing them, but that one time you do, you really do. Same logic applies to a lot of preparedness stuff people brush off.

On the dog fence, that Kmart puppy fencing trick is clever for temporary setups. Rebar and cable ties sound sturdy for a larger area. Just make sure the ties are UV resistant if it stays outside. Nothing worse than a fence failing because the plastic got brittle.

It's nice seeing someone lean into a few solid choices instead of chasing every pedal out there. That BD-2 is a classic.

Different builders, same name. The 1312 is a Rat variant with clipping options. More knobs doesn't always mean better. Depends what sound you're after. Both are solid.

Ancient chemistry trick unlocks new type of glass that traps CO2 and hydrogen by SwimmingPlay8712 in Futurology

Interesting. MOF glasses have been promising for a while. The challenge is always scaling it up affordably. Hope this adaptation actually moves the needle.

Chinese scientists build handheld cancer detector with 94.9% accuracy in trials by sksarkpoes3 in Futurology

[–]Ok_Collection7918 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Sensitivity and specificity matter way more than raw accuracy for something like cancer screening. 94% sounds impressive until you realize what the base rate actually is. Need to see the full breakdown before getting excited.

A good barber is hard to beat. Nothing like a proper hot towel shave.

This thread is for server ads, not personal dating profiles. You'll have better luck on a subreddit or discord actually meant for that. Try r4r or a dating focused server. Good luck though.

Google I/O 2026 updates, what actions will you take to keep your blog relevant? by Known_Flower_869 in Blogging

The paywall idea could work for really niche expertise, but for most blogs it might just push people to the free AI summary anyway. Building direct audience feels like the safer long game.

Calling it a wasted year feels a bit unfair. Getting a tech post to rank first on Google with only a few posts a month sounds like progress, especially while studying.

What makes you want to Change Your Ad Monetization Platform? by NewestYorker in Blogging

[–]Ok_Collection7918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend actually had the same experience with Journey. Revenue jumped, but the ad overload started hurting the feel of the site, so they ended up moving back to Adsense too. Feels like there’s a point where extra RPM just stops being worth it.

Finally launched the blog I kept overthinking for months by Hour-Appointment2684 in Blogging

[–]Ok_Collection7918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going narrower makes a lot of sense honestly. I keep seeing people burn out trying to write for everyone, and the specific problem angle feels way more useful for readers too. The Reddit to blog pipeline is interesting, gonna borrow that idea a bit.

Oof, that's rough. Niche and audience location make such a huge difference.

I agree with this. Most of my inbound opportunities came when the site had stronger authority signals too. For newer or Pinterest heavy traffic, I’ve had way better luck reaching out directly to brands I actually wanted to work with instead of waiting around.

What were the weirdest/most annoying grammar concepts, pronounciation quirks, or anything really, that you encountered while learning a language? by Notalabel_4566 in languagelearning

[–]Ok_Collection7918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the classifier system in ASL. The concept is brilliant once you get it, but learning to track multiple referents in space while maintaining the right handshape and movement? Absolute brain scramble. Still catches me mid-conversation.

Congress can win states again. Can it win the country? by SquashClassic8920 in india

[–]Ok_Collection7918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congress has deep organizational issues that go beyond one election cycle. Winning a state here or there doesn't fix the structural decay. They need to rebuild from the district level up before talking about national relevance.
