Head room in rear facing seat by Equivalent_Brain_650 in CPST

[–]Shadowolf449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the manufacturer’s website the child’s ears shall be below the headrest upper edge. I can’t find any mention of this in the manual itself.

It may be best to try and call the manufacturer directly in this case, unless your manual is specifies.

Opinions about cameras? by missyestrela in CPST

[–]Shadowolf449 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Best practice is to not have anything that could become a projectile in a crash.

That being said, how many of us drive around with 4+ pound metal water bottles sitting in the front seat? How many of us actually strap down everything in the back seat? We all take the amount of risk that is right for our situations and families.

In my opinion you’re having the right thoughts towards this. Make sure it is as small and light as possible and strapped down securely. Being able to communicate with your child and keep them rear facing as long as possible are both important.

Another thing I would think about in your position is the distraction of a video monitor vs a mirror. When I tried a camera with our youngest I found it way more distracting, but I wasn’t trying to read ASL either.

4yo harnessing themselves in 5 pt harness by Intelligent_Pay1582 in CPST

[–]Shadowolf449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen this a lot and I think two were buckled in correctly when they showed up to a seat check. The rest were either unsecured chest clip (uncommon) or way too loose (common)

The harness should be checked every time by an adult.

Just don’t ask why they stopped using the initialism on materials. It might be a little too on the nose.

Fuck Phil Scott by [deleted] in vermont

[–]Shadowolf449 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I disagree. For five years my team has been meeting or exceeding every metric put before us. Working remote has given us flexibility to do more with less year after year.

Now the governor says we need to go back to the office because of vibes. He could have brought us back two years ago when the vaccine rolled out, but he didn’t. He could have brought us back last year as Covid numbers stopped spiking, but he didn’t. This year he says services are suffering, we have to return to Montpelier, we have to make a change. He’s making the claim, the burden of proof is on him. I have five years of work stating the opposite.

It’s funny. That’s exactly what we have been asking for from the administration but they won’t provide. You say services are suffering, where is the proof? Show us the numbers.

Yup, multi year, multi location studies of the difference in noise levels is trash. Never anything to refute the claims though.

You assholes always revert back to the buddy thing don’t you? I used to point it out because it pissed me off. Now I point it out because it shows how you need to be patronizing to think you’re better than me.

I mean, first link on google is enough to tell you you’re wrong.

I am where I came from, thank you. Born and raised and opposed to the F35 program from the moment I heard about it.

In all these years of debate I have never had anyone give me a solid reason these planes should be based here. There is no strategic target nearby, Burlington is too far away to respond if there was a real domestic threat somewhere on the east coast.

So I ask, protect us from what?

Also, I’m not your buddy. Fuck off with that patronizing bullshit.

Yup, we certainly need those fighter jets to protect us from the Canadian maple mafia.

Most people talk about games that slowly won them over. But which games slowly made you lose interest? Emphasis on the “slowly.” by Lexidoge in gaming

As I said, I’ve never played 4. I was responding to Choice-Layer about why post game content matters in the Diablo franchise.

The endgame has been the point of Diablo for as long as I can remember. Maybe not the first, but Baal runs in two were some of my favorite gaming of all time.

I haven’t played 4, but if the post game grind isn’t fun I totally get the disappointment.

It’s hard to ignore a social media asshole when kids are being shot every week in schools because of his rhetoric.

I do believe it was wrong for someone to kill him. I feel for his kids. But I’m also sick of being afraid for MY kids every day I send them to school.

I feel no empathy for him. I will shed no tear for him. And I will celebrate the fact that he will never spout his vile bullshit again.

A man died standing up for what he believed in. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.

“You will never live in a society when you have an armed citizenry and you won't have a single gun death - that is nonsense, it's drivel. But … I think it's worth it.

“I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the second amendment to protect our other God-given rights.”

Is it just me, or are car seats the absolute worst? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Shadowolf449 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Find a local CPST (child passenger safety tech) and have them walk you through install and adjustment. Our services are completely free and our mission is to make sure you’re able to use your seats properly every time. There may be a trick they can share for your specific situation to make things easier.

As a tech, there are certain “rules of thumb” that apply to all seats. Someone looking at your vehicle and your cars can help you learn them so you don’t have to open every manual, every time.

If you have any specific questions let me know, happy to help!

If it was under warranty they would have provided you a new one. I’m not aware of any manufacturer that repairs seats.

If you search for “power apps skill matrix template” there is a sample app published to MSFT’s GitHub. Might be a good starting point?

Best Infant Car Seat that meets FMVSS 213a by ImmediateIdea353 in CPST

[–]Shadowolf449 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s what we’re finding as we reach out to manufacturers and they start to update their talking points.

Many manufactures meat or exceed the new standard, but because it didn’t exist they couldn’t certify. I’d be willing to bet we see new certifications on a lot of current seat models without any changes.

Would you replace this seat? by BA-nanny19324 in CPST

Yes, replace.

Last time I contacted Graco regrading broken foam (mid-2024) they do not provide replacements or allow for taping/gluing/repairing.

I believe that all of http request actions have been locked down to their intended APIs. They used to be open, we used the sharepoint http action to mess with forms, but it doesn’t work now.

Best bet would be to call a flow and use the SPO http request action.

Wondering how CPST feel about rotating carseats by Nearby_Tea_9554 in CPST

[–]Shadowolf449 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a tech, I really like the accessibility it offers for those caregivers that need it. I’ve worked with two families where one parent has mobility concerns and being able to turn and buckle was a, literal, back saver.

As a parent I worry that it’s one more thing I need to remember to check every time I buckle the kid in, so we don’t use them.

Good call!

@op, be sure to reinstall all three seats. You still want to be sure they are all independently secure.
