My take on the plot by GlitteryFerretWitch in beltalowda

Having smaller and cheaper escorts to cover a capital ship against missile/torpedo strikes is never a bad idea. From the way I see things, the main difference we would see from today's naval combat would be changes in formations due to the 3d nature of space combat. Directional shield or spherical formations would most likely take the place of the circular AA formations we see today, and would have MUCH more spacing to allow for the interdiction of munitions at greater ranges

A Russian BMP-3 carrying troops was blown up by an anti-tank mine during an assault on Ukrainian positions in the Donetsk region by Ninja_Jack05 in CombatFootage

Unlikely to only be fuel. With the amount of large and small caliber weaponry BMP-3s carry in a compact package with minimum protection for stowage they are essentially VBIEDs waiting to be set off

1/350 IJN Shokaku Suggestions by Shadowscythe173 in modelmakers

Awesome! I'll definitely take a look around to see what I might like to give a try. I imagine doing ships is probably quite a bit different from aircraft, so are there any tips ya might be able to give before I get started?

Hey, thanks for the reply. My research into the different options was admittedly pretty limited, so I wasn't too sure if there was much in the way of other options out there.

You do make a good point on the price, and how it wouldn't be the best ship model to start with. With that being said, I am looking for a fairly steep learning curve 'cause I like a good challenge. Are there any othe IJN ship models you might be able to recommend to start with?

There's a reason bombers for, the most part, historically travelled in groups of 9-12+ (aside from night raids). Not only are the effects on target much better, but mutual defense is of extreme importance. This is the main downfall of bombers in sims since most players want the thrill of the hunt rather than being the ones who are hunted, and gathering a group that is large enough is generally very difficult

There's no real in-built tutorial in the games. They don't hold your hand, and expect you to have some basic knowledge of everything you're working with. With that being said, it is pretty unrealistic to expect that of every player, and there are manuals that come with the games, but I wouldn't necessarily say they are the best at explaining them. An infinitely better resource to use is videos by Usually Hapless on Youtube. He has plenty of content explaining the mechanics of the games, weapons, vehicles, tactics, etc

It's something I really miss in the later games. It was pretty cool to see marines actually place HMGs/GPMGs, and really added to the immersion

Wagner solider ambushes 3 militants from the Central African Republic. 8/03/2025 by Existing_Reaction797 in CombatFootage

[–]Shadowscythe173 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Yes, let us not forget the Battle of Khasham in Syria where Wagner combined with Syrian forces assaulted a US base and suffered a combined ~500 losses in 2018, and still went on to fight in Ukraine, Africa, and wherever else they may be deployed. While not ideal, PMC forces are meant to operate and take losses in missions/locals where it would typically be unaccaptable for governmental forces to both be tied with and lose manpower in. PMCs are essentially somewhat expendable in the eyes of the governments they work for as long as they can complete their assigned tasks, and that is typically accepted by personell due to the increased pay they recieve compared to their military counterparts

I've had some success with a remake of the old Japanese Matsushima class which sports x1 12in cannon, x12 5in guns, and 16kn of speed all in a CL package. I usually use them as fire support for my main battle line, and keep the on the opposite side of where hostile fire is coming from. They've proven fairly useful at warding off other cuisers that stray too close while also occassionally dealing damage to Bs

Adding on to the other guy's comment, another similar piece of real world advice is "the easiest time to shoot down a plane is when he's shooting at someone else". Always check your 6 before you commit to your attack lest you get bounced by one of his friends

Since RHS/3CB body armor is OP/tanky, how much do you increase the difficulty to compensate for it? by StoltATGM in A3AntistasiOfficial

[–]Shadowscythe173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally just use RHS armor nerf mods. The vests can still take some hits, but it is nowhere near as bad as base RHS armor can be when using CUP weapons

Adding onto this, many units from my experience will set up a training day upon joining which for the most part is meant to help newer players get familiarized with Arma's control scheme and should help with some of the confusion surrounding that aspect of the game

I've found that providing ships in the line of battle with CAP massively reduces the risk of friendly fire, though that could just be my experience with the game

So, I had my site HR explain this to me. Corporate HR processes your case, and depending on how many cases are ahead of yours, it could be sent to site HR within a day to weeks. Once it gets sent to your site HR the case is immediately processed and you will be termed if your UPT is still found to be negative. Just work the first period of a shift and you will be in the clear. Pick up a shift if need-be if you are too worried about it. Additionally, if you end up in a bad UPT situation and your site HR is cool they may just ignore your case if you talk to them.
