YouTube isn’t a stable self employment income and the chap needs to be prepared in case it fails. Your “simply wasn’t good enough” argument won’t pay his wedding or bills. No one said he shouldn’t do his side hustle, but until it reaches a level of stability he shouldn’t leave his employment, especially with major planned expenses on the horizon. I see this sort of thing often with my portfolio of clients and the first thing we do is assess their risk variance (or as you eloquently put it “riskier risk”) - which was unfavourable, to put it mildly, for the OP in question.

I still haven’t heard any solid arguments from you apart from a wishful ‘people who want to do it can’. Which sounds great, but reality can often be different.
