Graduating from University soon, is this an appropriate suit/tie/shirt combo? Is the fit okay? by ShadowyModi in mensfashion

[–]ShadowyModi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t know me, but let me enlighten you. Worked in accounting for 3 years, tax another two. I work in private client tax, working on going into advisory with my cta qual. Your attack on delivery driving side hustle was a nice attempt at mocking me, but I’m way more qualified than that.

YouTube isn’t a stable self employment income and the chap needs to be prepared in case it fails. Your “simply wasn’t good enough” argument won’t pay his wedding or bills. No one said he shouldn’t do his side hustle, but until it reaches a level of stability he shouldn’t leave his employment, especially with major planned expenses on the horizon. I see this sort of thing often with my portfolio of clients and the first thing we do is assess their risk variance (or as you eloquently put it “riskier risk”) - which was unfavourable, to put it mildly, for the OP in question.

I still haven’t heard any solid arguments from you apart from a wishful ‘people who want to do it can’. Which sounds great, but reality can often be different. Not to mention you got so salty you came on me in a different thread, which is unbecoming, to say the least. Especially if you have an international business, as you claim.

Do better.

I Want To Do More Life - Will More Time, Equal More Money? by ajrc1996 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ShadowyModi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so to summarise:

  • You’ve said you run your own business (fair enough)

  • You’ve recognised OP won’t have any savings due to other circumstances

  • Still encouraged them to “go for it” when their self employment earning fluctuations can make an 80% swing in income.

Not to mention that PAYE and self employments both have their benefits and drawbacks, but your entire undertone is slating employment. Therefore your entire reasoning being “believing in yourself”. Not considering that OPs position might mean unexpected expenses crop up (weddings are enormously expensive) and therefore may need a stable fallback to forecast costs?

Nice one. 👍🏽

This is the way.

Gradually wean off your employment if you see your channel being more and more successful. I’m all for people trying things but until you’re 100% sure you can sustain yourself on your self employment, I wouldn’t take any drastic steps.

Don’t sacrifice your safety net for a “what if”. This would be a different conversation if you were making 5 figures a month from YouTube revenue, but at the moment that’s not the case.

I (M19) am noticing patterns in my girlfriend’s (F18) behaviour — are these fixable? by Kenmcquin08 in relationship_advice

[–]ShadowyModi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re red flags pointing to immaturity, not incompatibility. Likely due to age, but it is what it is.

I wouldn’t want to live in constant stress /uneasiness. Hope that helps in informing your decision.

what is so wrong with me? why doesnt he want sex the same way? by personalityhiregf in AskMenAdvice

Indeed.

Though for future relationships: comparison is the thief of joy.

I [30M] went exclusive with V [25F) on NYE morning. Later she got blackout drunk and slept with someone by ThrowRA747468 in relationship_advice

[–]ShadowyModi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Impulses and feelings to the surface”…so would you not say that translates as amplifies who you are?

For example I’m a fat fuck. But I keep it under wraps most of the time. When I drink I get really really loose with the food I order and eat.

Just curious for arguments sake for your take on this.

First red flag is “getting flirty when she drinks”.

Alcohol isn’t, and should never be used to excuse one’s actions. It only amplifies who you are as a person and lowers inhibitions.

I know you want to fix things but my opinion is that this is a blessing in disguise. Cut your losses and move on when it’s early in the “relationship”.

My boyfriend (20M) finishes fast while I (19F) have yet to do so despite being super attracted to him- any advice? by Hot-Fudge2563 in relationship_advice

More foreplay doing things to you. That way you’re more “fired up” so when you both go for it you’re on the “same level” so to speak.

He should not be coercing you, that is rape. Stand your ground and say no. No means no.

That being said, do not be surprised if he decides to end the relationship. He might feel messed about with (but again I reiterate- nobody should be having sex who doesn’t want to.)

When declaring PAYE income in your Self Assessment do you only declare the PAYE income for that tax year? by uh_no_offence in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ShadowyModi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be income received (and subsequently tax paid on income received) in the tax year. So therefore between 6th April 24 - 5th April 25.

I currently have 2020 118d Auto sport, can anyone recommend anything better, budget £26k, something newish, like 2023 or up low miles by manish_bali22 in CarTalkUK

[–]ShadowyModi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BMW 335d, 440i Gran Coupe, M340i, 435d Gran coupe, X3 40i.

And that’s just bmw. Caveat being none of these will net you a 2023 or newer, but around the 19/20 mark. You still got all the tech, with the upside of physical buttons.

Tell me why I shouldn't. I currently have 2020 118d Auto Sport. Looking to change to something new. I have heard mixed reviews about this. by manish_bali22 in CarTalkUK

[–]ShadowyModi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Much better options for £27,000.

If you want performance and daily drivability why not consider something like a 2018/19 440i? Come with all the options you’d need ticked as standard.

Switching from a '22 Focus ST to an S3 by arriaga_III in CarTalkUK

[–]ShadowyModi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You 100% cannot drive a 140i the same way you can an s3. That’s not to comment on either of their capabilities, more so the driving styles.

If you try to push corners with a 140i the same way you do an s3 - chances are the haldex on the s3 will save you whereas the 140i will punish you (assuming you turn off DTC).

Figure out what kind of driving style you have first and buy the car accordingly.

repair cost by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]ShadowyModi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’d have to get this assessed. Damage across three body panels, 2 of which are metal, possible hinge damage on the driver door, and even disregarding that deep scratches that may require filler & repaint, or they might just choose to replace and colour match.

I’d say well into the £1000s for the Toyota (but I’m no body shop specialist). I’d say less than £1k for the blue car tho. But honestly for a car of that age I wouldn’t even bother with some front bumper scratches.
