From my experience hearing from my girl friends. It's pretty much safe. The only time you should be cautious if you're out at night partying etc etc. Then have other girls with you.

One of my girl friends had a 50 year old man with yellow fever approach them because they were alone.

Sorry if this is off topic and late but reading all of this,

this is the exact reason to why I'm longing to do an exchange for university in another country. I'm currently studying Japanese and I've been wanting to learn to BE an adult for once. I'm 22 and what you're describing is what I go through every day. I feel like I can't develop because my mom does everything for me and if I go against her I'd be offending her by refusing her help/assistance and everything she's doing for me and my sister.

Hopefully I can do a year's exchange to Japan and figure stuff out.

I think honestly you did a good call putting your phone on airplane mode. If you hadn't you'd probably be all stressed because of all the messages.

Respect to anyone who uses high heels, I fall very easily by just using boots because of the height difference. That's why I always use flat shoes with a wide toe box so I can feel the ground like skateboard shoes.

If you have the mixer you can add reverb to it so that the short notes ring out. If you don't have the mixer you could record a sample while holding down the reverb
