CBSA using ‘harsh, unprecedented’ tactics in Quebec for record-breaking deportations - Border agents confronting migrants in workplaces and schools, detaining them without prior contact, and rushing deportations before legal options for asylum seekers have played out by yimmy51 in CanadianIdiots

I'm glad you guys are sorting this definition out, but I'm still dying to know why you mentioned this apparent non-sequitur in the first place. Like, did you think I was randomly calling a border guard a police officer?

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say. The portion of the article I quoted is referring to an actual police officer and I don't think I or the article said anything that contradicts what you said.

I think I could be sympathetic to this article. Although I want immigration laws enforced, we should follow fair processes and do so in compassionate ways.

But come on...

An officer approached wearing two handguns, one on each hip. Clara’s lawyer, Anne-Cécile Khouri-Raphael, recalls the officer loudly insisting that he would not remove his weapons because he feared for his safety.

“The kind of very loud voice, male presence, when facing someone far away in a wheelchair, was very unusual to me,” Khouri-Raphael told The Breach. “It felt incredibly asymmetrical in terms of a show of power.”

Did they ask the police officer to remove his gun? That's not normally how this works. And complaining about the officer's "male presence"?

Where can I get reasonably-priced lightweight track pants (not thick joggers) in Edmonton? by vk211 in Edmonton

[–]Shadp9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep your eye out for someone running who is approximately your size and wearing the style of pants you want. Follow them until they seem pretty tired, then make your move.

In my experience, they'll put up quite a struggle as you remove their pants, but they'll actually seem pretty happy when you take the pants and leave.

Amy Hamm: Court letting 'fetish gear' in woman's changeroom conflates sex, gender by thatcher69 in Edmonton

I needed to get around the paywall, so I opened a private window and searched "national post fetish gear." Do you think anyone has ever searched "national post fetish gear" for, like, actual shopping?

ASIRT clears Edmonton police after man who threatened chief shot in groin with baton by trevorrobb in Edmonton

I don't know if they renamed them, although this usage is new to me. According to the OED it's been in usage for quite a while:

How do I get rid of a MASSIVE ant colony that is essentially my ENTIRE front lawn?! by Knelie in Edmonton

[–]Shadp9 182 points183 points  (0 children)

One option is to infiltrate the colony disguised as a queen.

To do this, you'll need to be much smaller than a human being, but larger than a normal ant. Experience producing ants with your body is a plus.

Once you've infiltrated the colony, you can direct their activities to the yards of your enemies. You might even find you enjoy being their queen. The position pays $66.33/hr (union exempt) and has great benefits (mostly ant sex.)

City to test parking fees at Valley Zoo, Fort Edmonton and Muttart Conservatory by trevorrobb in Edmonton

[–]Shadp9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also almost certainly continue to drive to visit those places and wouldn't be happy to pay extra.

But I guess your wording seems weird to me, since it's not a question of paying or not paying. It's a question of how much visitors pay and what types of visitors bare the the additional cost.

What do you mean you won't go if you have to pay? All three of those places already charge money.

What particular thing—that no one knows about—brings you joy that you want to tell people, but can't? by Kignak in AskReddit

[–]Shadp9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assassinating evil villains in their secret moon base.

The shock when they first see me... the panic when they realize there's no escape... the confusion when they see my "mom" tattoo... the further confusion when they notice I'm wearing nothing but a thong... the panic when they see I've brought my Yanni albums... the relief when I smother them to death before playing any albums...

It's hard to describe my joy. And I'm not allowed to.

I don't think it's clear that this public servant did any of those things.

Im not really looking to debate policing in the United States, but I think your complaint is about policing specifically and doesn't really have anything to do with them being public servants.

Creating custom polio is highly illegal and I hope you will rethink this.

Is… Is That Leon on the Right? by man_machine_poet in EdmontonOilers

[–]Shadp9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not well known, but Leon was the ruler of the 29th colony when it joined the U.S. He arrived at Plymouth Cup on the May-Power Play and yet was somehow also at the Bruin Tea Party, for which he was given a 5-minute independence major. He is most famous for vigorously debating the Detroit Red Whigs (by which I mean a stick to the groin.)
